Its because they read in a photography magazine that it was new and trendy.. so then they all do it.. I agree one or two would be ok in a big photo shoot.but just like vignetting, it could get old real quick. It also comes from this "scrap book phase many are going through right now...lol

If I really like a photo I copy it. Then all the times I use it, I use the copy. If I need a really good one of the original then I go back to that one. You have to use them a lot to see any degradation.

Stop jumpin on my post as if I was wrong by expressing my opinion on a subject he brought up. He also advertised his position by mentioning about his online petition that if you wanted to support his cause you could. All you guys that keep complaining that it is a photography forum yet criticizing anybody that comments are also expressing your opinions that have nothing to do with photography.. so drop it or ignore it.

I still want to know why Norway kills Eskimos...lol Yes this is a forum about photography yes, but when you stated about the whales and dolphins you opened yourself up to a lot of criticism.. I think the fact that you boycott is a noble cause but misdirected but hey each to his own. The fact that this boycott bothers people is that in all common sense your boycott is impossible because although you refuse to buy products made in japan, I would bet my life savings you have so many products around you that you use with products made in Japan that if you had a Japan detector on you it would not stop blowing its whistle! Did you ever see how a cow is slaughtered? A pig? a chicken? The slave labor that comes out of all the Asian countries is horrible. So try not to be so defensive when people make the comments. Its no different how people think its ok to want to kill PEOPLE that hurt animals.. where is the sense in that? Just my two cents...lol

Granted I was not in a foreign country but I agree with the guy about being careful about losing your tripod.. years ago I also had a Slik Classic Tripod.. my first tripod and not really cheap in its day. I was in downtown Cleveland taking shots of a busy street, took the camera off to adjust something and turned to put it back on the tripod and POOF it was gone.. I looked around and saw nobody carrying anything. It couldnt have been more than 15 seconds and it was gone! I now have a couple of Manfrotto's and I watch them like a hawk. Never be too careful...

Years ago got a new camera and took a trip with my parents to Washington DC.. we saw the Lincoln Memorial.. Arlington Cemetery, the Smithsonian. On the way back went through Virginia, took pics at many Civil War sites. I took pictures of us everywhere! Now I took 16 rolls of film.. and when we got home EVERY picture and I mean EVERY picture had my finger in the picture! It was a family joke for years and if they both weren't gone I would still here about it today! haha

Nikon told me they don't make a grip for the 5000 series because of the flip down LCD panel. The grip would somehow interfere with the LCD. If I had known that when I bought my D5000 I would not have bought. The whole explanation is crap however because obviously somebody (aftermarket) has been able to make fully functional grips that work fine. As far as Im concerned its just an excuse from Nikon for not following up on a product. They rushed the D5000 series out because video was the new craze. They let their customers down as usual...

I have found that if you find young couples walking they are always willing to let you take photos of them.. I show them the shots on my camera and then give them a card and tell them to contact you for the photos.. usually works for me!

If you go to walmart, any home center, or a fabric store.. they sell the male and female velcro in neat little circles.. stick the female or male on your lens cap and you can put the others on your bag, your tripod, etc.. My favorite is a sports sweatband I put on my right wrist and then when I go to take a picture I just stick it to my wrist.. hope that gives you some ideas...
