Very strange week, someone wanted some photos of their son's team playing baseball and I went done to meet with them. I took my best baseball pictures with me and some other sport pictures and had a great presentation on my lap top with me. They asked to see my flower and landscape shots. They were told by someone that flower and landscape shots were how you could tell a great photographer from a mediocre one. I looked at them and thought to myself, wtf! When I told them I didn't have any, they said I wasn't a good enough photographer for them. WTF?

The other one was for a senior pictures. The mother saw some of my pics that I took for a friend of her daughters. She loved the pics. I meet her at her house and the first thing out of her mouth was, "you are white!" and i said ,"no I'm Ken, nice to meet you". She didn't even open the door. Her next words made me laugh so hard, I had tears in my eyes. "How can white person take pictures of a black girl." I answered with my camera. Her reply was to shut the door. I was laughing so hard, I couldn't help myself.
It was a wasted day but I went home laughing how someone thought how you can tell if someone is an expert photographer and that white people can't take pictures of people of another race. I think the pics prove them wrong

At least you can laugh at the situation. Very nice photos of the girl. It might be worth to print a 8x10 of the third photo and send it to the lady with a note saying this is how it is done.

What was really funny, 80-90% of the people, I take pictures are minorities. I do a lot of work with under privilege inner city kids and give them discounts and freebies on photos and support this by doing senior pics and sport pics. I just couldn't believe this lady. She was a total shock, the person pics that she saw, told her husband that I took the best pictures of him and her family and she is my best customer! She recommends me to people all the time and this is the first time, I have ever run into this and I'm sorry, I think it is too funny. The third pic has a Mother in it, maybe I should send it to her! This Mother loves me!

There is a cure for ignorance, however; medicine hasn't invented one for STUPID yet. After over 25 years in this business you will never hear all of them. Has a lady come to me while shooting Motocross and ask if my camera was good enough to shoot a car that had been restored. I wanted to come up with a good one but only smiled and said as long as the car isn't older than me.....

I was at a basketball game taking pics and security at the game asked me if I had a daughter playing and if not why was I taking pictures. I looked at him and smiled, one of the girls heard this and she came up and hugged me and yelled "Daddy"! Then another girl and another girl on the team came up and did this. It brought a tear to my eye. They went after the Security Guard for messing with their "Daddy"!

you can't fix "stupid"

taking photos of flowers determines your ability to take pictures of people?

color of your skin determines what race you can take pictures of?

your photos are awesome.

those 2 clients are stupid and 1 of them is definitely racist. i take photos of every race and the hardest for me to get exposures right on is the very pale skinned Finnish people.

-------------------

i thought i have heard about everything before until this post.

again.....you cannot fix "stupid"

again....your photos are awesome. great detail and quality.

so, if you are an overweight person, you cannot take photos of a skinny person?

Wow...I'm speechless.

It's probably for the best you skipped these two nuts.

Flowers, landscapes and skin color makes a photographer?? It's a blessing you did not get the job. If they knew what makes one, why need one? Take the pics themselves!!

After I quit shaking my head in disbelief, I got a chuckle out of your post. Sad. Probably not people you want to contract with anyway,,,but,,,,,their money is as good as anyones.

the quick reply would be "the question is not is my camera good enough to photograph your car, the question should be is your car good enough to be photographed by my camera?"

LOL - thanks for the belly laugh, just what I needed tonight. Some folks just don't realise how stoopid they sound, do they?
BTW - awesome photos, love that first action shot, he looks like a little flower, LOL.
Smiles

i view photos for the work gone into them, not what or who is in them, surely what you speak of is racism pure and simple ?,
i live in the UK and do not know how bad a problem (if it is ?) int he USA,
but the women in your photo,s are stunning, thats what they are women,i dont see colour !!
