I think it is way cheaper to send the image to a print shop than to print at home. i bought a printer for school and i have not used it since. to me it is just a hole to throw money in.

It looks like this was taken with a wide angle lens. Learn how to take pictures first. Trying to repair pictures is a waste of time. Do not expect someone to tell you step by step how to use photoshop. It is not easy. You should have purchased Elements first and mastered that. If you do not purchases some books on Photoshop and takes some classes, you will have wasted a considerable amount money just to say you have PS.

I thought this was a place folks could get help. No need of folks being rude. If you don't want to help then just keep your mouth shut.

If you will be using photoshop to remove her, please detail all the steps, detail by detail, tool by tool, defining words like layers, masks, curves, etc. which mean nothing to me. As I am starting to learn about Photoshop, doing this would help me. I really like this image but obviously, she ruins it. Thanks.

Greg

Open image in photoshop>Duplicate layer (ctrl J)> go to tools pallet and grab lasso tool.
Draw a path around object to remove. Go to Edit>content aware fill> hit ok.
Wait for it to do it magic.
Content aware will give different results each time you use it on the same item. So if you don’t like it the first time try it again.

No Cropping on this image.

I did, I did, I graciously volunteered! I can't believe this scheme even worked, as we all know when you post photos and ask for c/c you get some good advice, but it's soon lost in the mix? For some strange reason I'm hung up with this composition and I need help! My first question is about the banding, what causes this and what's the best way to handle it? :-( I'm reposting the photo with the power line removed, so everyone won't get hung up on that! So have at it and thanks for you great advice so far. I would like thank Steve for letting me volunteer. (ha, ha.)

most such banding is a form of posterization that comes from working with (or ending up in) too small a range of tones, usually because of data compression.

I struggle with images like this as well. I find it hard with the sun in the background getting exposure right. I think overall it is a good image although you are losing some detail in the dark areas. I also see some banding in the sky. i think that several different exposures of this scene would have helped get the detail in the dark areas. I also think that maybe dodging and burning my help with the lights and dark's as well. While i cannot down load the image it does appear to be sharp in the details. I would also add that the wall on the left in my opinion is a bit distracting, i am not sure if you could have moved to camera right and lost the wall and maybe used the canal to move you more through the image to the church but i think that would have helped with composition. i also would have removed the power line in the photo while it is not overbearing it does hold my eye a bit.

I think this the right group to post in. I used D7100 body, full manual, f8, ISO 200, 18-55mm AF-S DX kit lens at 55mm, VR off, tripod mounted, 75-100 feet away , manual focus on leaf group in center of frame, EV on my spot meter was 10 for the unshaded areas. The shot in my opinion lacks clarity, crispness, snap or whatever the buzzword is in use now. We all know the 24mpx DX sensor is capable of more.
Is this all the lens is capable of, do i expect too much of the combination or is my technique missing something crucial for good results? Please give it to me straight, i feel naked enough just coming up here to ask the question.
I think this the right group to post in. I used D7... (show quote)

i am a rookie but from looking at your image there does not appear to be any dark dark areas. With the brightness on the right and the lack of the same amount of brightness on the left there seems to be a pretty big difference in the light to darkness ratio. I am not sure you can capture the full spectrum of light in one shot, at least not with out some post production work.

Thanks you very much for the critique. I was wanting to use the flume to lead into the mill as well as the road. I was also hoping to capture the age of this building and show the seclusion and how it was hid in the woods.

I'm pretty sure that's right, but perhaps only in full-dress Photoshop, maybe not in Elements 11. I've been trying every way I can to get an adjustment layer (or any other layer) that will give me the "gray card" effect, but no luck. The only layer that allows the effect is the layer with the original image on it, which I can't delete. I have the feeling that I am this close, but it may be impossible in Elements 11.

oh sorry i don't know anything about elements i thought they worked pretty much the same.
