I believe it is either an egret or a white heron. The leg color would make it easier to be sure. the egret has black legs

if you are good at editing, what about a still shot of the father or the bridal couple or even a sunset... with the audio playing in the background no explaining needed

My D 7000 uses two sd cards my D800 uses an sd slot and a slot for a cf card. Is there an advantage to the cf card over the sd card?

Try the Ding Darling Nature Center on Sanibal Island near Ft Myers. Don't overlook the Nature Center near the Space Coast.
Believe it or not another great spot is at the Alligator Farm in St Augustine. The egrets love to nest right above the gators. It inhibits the predators

I'm a nikon user but as far as macro shooting in general I would advocate for the largest focal length your budget would allow. Being able to shoot from greater distances will make it possible to get a lot of shots that you'll miss trying to get close enough with a shorter focal length. Before investing in a dedicated macro lens, I'd check out how close your telephoto will allow you to focus. I get some outstanding results with my 70 - 300 Nikor.
I also have the Nikor 105 macro

I have the 24 - 70 Nikkor lens on my D 800 I also have the 105 macro. When I shot on film I always thought the fixed focal length lenses were sharper than the zooms. Is this still true ? Would it be worth my money to invest in a good 24 mm and 50 mm ?

It's easy to blame Obama for things that were in place before he even took office. This is typical of a system gone haywire but do you think a multimillionaire candidate that thought he should only pay 14% on unearned income while those of us working for our money pay 30% would really have the middle class in his thoughts ? The republicans need to divorce themselves from the ultra rich teapartiers and come up with a candidate that will
push for real tax and entitlement reform

why does anyone else's opinion of the photo matter to you. It is obviously a great shot. To trash or not is, in my opinion, totally up to the artist (photographer)

I've had a great deal of success with nighttime lighting by shooting at ISO 400 f16 for 16 seconds. All adjustments are made with this as you base, larger aperature>shorter exposure...

I'm a hunter and resent all the "get rid of the guns" rhetoric. Why don't we do something that will stop the mass murders by disturbed people. Stop giving them the notoriety! The news media can cover the story but don't give the name of the idiot !They want the attention and notoriety. There isn't one good reason for us to know their name or their history. More often than not the gun wasn't obtained legally anyway.

I find the auto focus on my camera unable to meet my needs to quickly focus on fast moving subjects and some candids. I would love to change my focusing screen to a split image screen and be able to do it manually instead. Is it possible to do that ? I use two Nikon D 7000 and a D 800

almost all my shooting is on a tripod with the exception of family casual portraits. This is where I find the most problems with the autofocus and softness. I try to keep the shutter speed high (1/60 and up) It just must be something else, old dog and new tricks type of thing. I thought this camera might match large format cameras I used to have (hasselblad and Linhof) but so
far I'm still on quite a learning curve apparently Thanks for the reassurance, I'm happier that it is probably something I'm doing. Thats cheaper to fix.

Is this a good lens coupled with the Nikon D800. I'm not getting pictures as sharp as I expected and the autofocus seems slow
I'm much happier with my D 7000 and it's a lot cheaper too
should I go to primary lenses instead of a zoom. I use it for general photography (scenics, HDR,casual portraits...)
