Photographic results are sometimes “over analyzed.” Yes, it is great to obtain opinions and learn from mistakes. However, of great importance is what is pleasing to you with what you saw or were trying to accomplish. I probably would not have settled on the pinkish cast to the tracks in #1, but the more I look at that shot the more I like it. Learn all you can but be sure to satisfy your internal creativity.

Very, very nice. 4, 6, and 7 are favorites for me....but that does not diminish the quality of the others at all. Well Done. Keep shooting.

Bought the FZ1000 6 months ago and have been extremely pleased with it. Have other cameras, including Canon G7XMKII, Canon EOS APSC cameras, etc. The FZ1000 has easily become my go-to camera; as well as my travel camera. Yes, the bridge camera is a little larger than my other P&S styles but is so versatile and well-balanced and the 1” sensor ably supplies great photos that I can’t leave home without it. Also, I am just scratching the surface of its features. Enjoy not only a Great camera but a real bargain, IMHO.

The 1” sensors are a plus in most situations as noted. I use my bridge (Panasonic LUMIX FZ1000) as much or more than my point and shoot. Has great zoom and I am satisfied with the AF. Very well balanced and it is about half the price of the Sony RX10 (which is also an excellent bridge). I believe FZ1000 has a faster shutter speed, time lapse recording and 4K. Good luck.

Snapfish, Shutterfly, Mixbook, Blurb.......a lot of very good ones to choose from. Comfortable with all listed. As with most things....need to research according to your likes or dislikes. Features vary among all.

Since you say “will be in Phoenix for awhile” I agree with billnikon’s suggestion for TripAdvisor. Made the trip for 10 days 2-3 years past and had plenty of time to enjoy Phoenix, Tucson, Tombstone, and Sedona....much to see and do. The Sonoran Desert Museum is a must see and has great opportunities for many varied raptor shots. Also, Jerome and Cottonwood are two western towns in the vicinity worth a day or two. If you enjoy train excursions, the Verde Canyon Wilderness Route out of Clarkdale is very nice. Regretfully, I did not make Bisbee or Grand Canyon, The latter because mid-winter, but will catch them next time. Too many photo ops to mention and no shortage of good food venues.

To a certain extent, all things are somewhat relative. Per a former answer (Mercedes vs Toyota), it may be somewhat comparative to equate Toyota to Lexus—-sane company and some models have same guts but Lexus has more refined trim levels. All being said, IMHO, the only discernible difference is the Sony probably has more quality video capabilities. But, not enough to justify expense for most. Most also think Sony menus get too far into the weeds. KISS principle may be a good guide for most. All that being said, most of the aforementioned brands will meet most our needs. Good news is there is something for us all. Better to have many choices as opposed to only a couple don’t you think? I’ve owned Leica but my Canon, Nikon, and Panasonics have done similarly well 99% of time. A huge difference seems to be missing the Red Dot. Ha.

B&W is my choice. The color shot has certain qualities but for me the B&W does it best.

Cell phone gives more of a reflection of what I normally see with the eye—opens up for me for lot of the reasons others have pointed out.

Sometimes choice is personal. I compared Lumix FZ300 with the FZ1000 and chose the FZ1000. The 300 has more zoom and environmental protection and maintains the 2.8 throughout. I chose the 1000 because of the 1” sensor is larger which compensates for the zoom considering the IQ IMHO. I handhold 90% of time and the longer zoom of the 300 zoom is more of a chore for me to obtain highest quality. Can’t go wrong with either. Also I like the balance of the 1000, but both similar. I am able to adequately handhold the 1000 with one hand for some quick shots when necessary. Good luck.
