I took this photo in two ways......one with focus on the cell phone and the other with focus on her hair. Which do you prefer? I have my opinion but don't want to sway your answer with my thoughts.
Focus on her head. Seems the subject is more defined as her.
Focus on the cell phone! The back of her head is not the subject of the picture. Her focus is on the cell phone, and focusing on the back of her head makes no sense.
Cell phone. That's what draws us into the photo.
Cell phone. Back of head holds no interest.
This is really different - Focus on Head, Like the water in background - Focus on cell, background has a look that is distracting to me a little rougher. But as my rule goes -Focusing on cell they could say invasion of privacy - I never try to get a shot like that so I say HEAD. Bob
I like the second one Brent, the focus on the cell phone. I could not decide at first but keep going back to the second one.
Definitely focus on the phone... I might have played around with smaller f-stops to bring her hair and sweater into a bit sharper focus, but still focusing most sharply on the phone, since that's what the photo is all about.
Tough one for me to decide. Focus on Head: She has beautiful hair and the slightly muted colors of the sunset are more pleasing to me. Focus on Cell: Well, she also has pretty hands and some think the phone is the main subject.
The photo seems to say.....here is a beautiful girl taking a photo of a gorgeous sunset. I have no interest in a focused cell phone, and the colors make the sunset, not the details. But that textured hair, to me that is the subject.....with a side of vibrant background color. It makes me want to be there with her, to ask her to turn around.
My choice is focus on her head.
Well ladies and gents...........at this point in the survey it is 4 in favor of the head for focus and 7 in favor of the cell phone for focus. What I find interesting is that most everyone is very dedicated to their answer no matter which image they choose!
I’m not an expert; but, I like the focus on the camera because it draws you to the sunset.
The focus on the back of the head seems to be a stop sign and, in this shot, I don’t find her hair very interesting.
