I am preparing a series of about
100 photos in Lightroom slideshow to be presented on line on both small mobile devices and computers and possibly a projector screen. How should the photos be saved and exported so that they fit on each device ?Thank you all in advance for your suggestions.

I have submitted photos to club competitions where the stipulation was "save as Jpeg 7 inches long on long side". Thus you would be submitting, basically, 5X7's. The entries were projected onto a large screen for the judges to view and I could not see any degradation of my or anyone else's photo. I can't explain why a 5X7 projects well, but it does.

I have created Power Point presentations and have used even smaller images successfully, thus keeping the overall presentation a reasonable file size.

Hi! Looking for specific best apps to create photo books. Easy to use, quality work. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Shutterfly is my go to. Have used it for years. Tried a few others and always went back to Shutterfly. Easy-peasy, great quality, and they still have all the photos I uploaded 10 years ago even though I rarely order from them in the last few years. I will be soon though. Have another book in mind.

Hi

I am trying to open OPS and/or LR but the system just keeps coming up with start free trial for 7 days, getting so frustrated as no matter what I do I cant open them. Thank you HOGS.

Try logging into your Creative Cloud account. Might be a notification that helps determine what is wrong (billing issue?).

If there's not a break in the sequence numbers, it's going to be hard to investigate further. You mention prefixes, so I assume that assures the two cameras cannot collide on the same file name / sequence number? Do these images happen to overlap with a card change? Have you misplaced a card? Stepping away from the sequence numbers, can you see a break in the timestamps?

Your 5DIV uses two card slots, CF and SD. Does this issue mean it's isolated to the SD card in the 6D?

That is a good possibility. I shoot a different brand (Oly) but have hit that problem. As you still have the cards, re-import the 6D photos to a different folder so there will be no collision. I have had to do that and it works.
Another thing I wondered about is video. On my Oly, it is very easy to hit the video button by mistake once in a while. If you did that and somehow got back to stills without noticing, maybe the videos don't show up in your import?

In any case, you can just look on the cards directly. If the shots are not there, you are SOL. Won't likely figure out what happened, but if not on the card, they are, unfortunately gone.

Good luck!

Can you change exposure at ISO, Aperture or Speed?
Would that give better control knowing what you will get?

It seems confusing using Exposure Compensation.
Do you know what it is changing in your camera?
If it changes aperture, it will change depth of field. That might not be what I want.
So I see how confusing it is because I am not in control.

Am I being correct in this matter.
Or photographers don't care about the end result of their pictures.

If you are set for Aperture priority and a fixed ISO, adjusting exposure comp will change shutter speed to compensate for the exposure. For Shutter priority, the opposite is true. Not sure of the algorithm when you have Auto ISO set at the same time, but I think it will try to keep your Aperture and Shutter speed constant before hitting the maximum ISO you allow.

If you want total control, or just to see what happens, set the dial to Manual and you will be working just like your old SLR did (except that you don't have to change film to get a different ISO).

Just editing this reply in case I missed a point of your question.
The reason there is a compensation dial is that you can't just change shutter speed or aperture to get a different exposure if you are not in Manual. Any adjustment to aperture, shutter speed, or ISO when NOT in manual will result in the same exposure value (EV). The camera is determining the EV and you just tell it which aperture or shutter speed you prefer for the effect you are trying to achieve.
By adjusting the compensation, you can force the camera to give more or less exposure if you think it is not correctly reading the scene (as it might if your subject is backlit).

First you should copy them from your camera card to an internal hard drive or an external drive. Then Open LR > File > Import > browse to the location you copied the files to and select the folder or photo's you want to import.

Now you can start playing with editing. Google Lightroom tutorials...there are some really good ones for beginners out there.

You can simplify this step by simply putting the camera card in a card slot on the computer, then select "Import" from the library menu in Lightroom. Tell it where to find the files, and where to put them. Once imported, you can remove undesirable photos by tagging them with an "X" (hit the x key when viewing the photo). After tagging all the unwanted pics, hit CTL + Bkspc and when it asks if you want to remove or delete, tell it delete. Remove leaves them on your hard drive, but not in the LR catalog.

I have two old Logitech webcams, and I thought I'd connect one to my Windows machine so I wouldn't always be limited to my Mac. The round white one doesn't work on Win10, and the horizontal black one is connected, but I'm not getting any life from it.

Aside from that my son and a friend want webcams. What's a decent one to get, considering that these people will not be doing anything more than Zoom and conversing with friends?

I bought a Logitech C270 webcam at Staples when I tried to do a video job interview and found that the built in webcam on my laptop was trash. The Logitech only cost about $40 and is excellent.

I received the ad by e-mail. The software is published by Soft Orbits. Here is the link to the web-site: https://www.softorbits.com/unblur-photos/

No direct experience with that one, but have tried Topaz. Not magic. You will have better luck making sure you hold the camera steady.

The demo I saw at a photo show was impressive. I think that with the image they use, they know exactly what the cause of blur was and are able to correct it each demo (and it is not a random photo for each demo). You on the other hand will have to play around with it and get varying results.
The bottom line though, is you will never get tack sharp photos if the photo was not tack sharp in the camera!

I was thinking about checking into having my ISO bearings replaced or at least checked. Does anyone know how many photons they can absorb before they need service? Can I just have them cleaned, or do I have to get new ones? Or is it the noise that primarily clogs them up?

I've always read that ISO has a bearing on noise, so it made me wonder even where these bearings are located? I've always assumed it was similar to dual pixel technology, where it is embedded in the sensor array. I know it has to do with the deep well capacity of the photosites, so the bearings must be at the bottom of the well? Do full frame cameras need the bearings changed less often because they have greater well capacity?

You will need to go outside and find a good landmark, so you can get your bearings.

Reviewed past posts regarding Matt Cutter selection but appear dated. Looking a simple to use machine for home non commercial use.

I have a Logan Simplex 760. Main problem is it is huge. Get one of the smaller ones because setting up requires a lot of space for mine.

It is tricky at first to cut bevels cleanly. Logan has a great book on cutting mats.

Finally, if you are using standard cuts (the mats that are readily available for order - 8X10 window in 11X14 mat for example), you can get them cheaper on line. I order "Redi Packs" from RediMat in California and even with exorbitant shipping from there to Connecticut, I get them at about half the price I can locally or making them from large mats that I cut. I would love to shop locally, but you can't charge double for something and expect people to buy it when they can get it so much cheaper elsewhere!

Hi friends....I am looking for a very basic/intro editing program. I'm not opposed to 'free' for the moment to get a feel for how much I would use certain elements. I have tried a couple free programs in the past, but although the editing was relatively simple and successful, I could not open the newly edited photo on my computer. It all gets quite frustrating after awhile. Any suggestions?

If you are on a PC, FastStone Image Viewer is excellent, and free (but you can donate to the supplier, which I have done because it is worth it).

What a nightmare I am experiencing getting my camera body and three lenses back from service.
First attempt “by end of business day”. So much for the “end” part. I was out riding my horse at 10:45 a.m. when they made the first delivery attempt.

Second attempt with same timeframe both my husband and I were home...he outside with the RV running (he does monthly service checks) and me 30’ from the front door tidying our indoor/outdoor porch. He saw nothing and I heard nothing. Obviously the driver didn’t make much of an attempt. I immediately called FedEx to complain and said WTF...how could he have missed us? Offered the option to have package left at local dropzone by 6 p.m.....guess what...package was never dropped.

Called FedEx again. By this time I was losing patience, getting frustrated and increasingly concerned about my expensive gear taking an east coast tour. Was told driver would make second attempt that evening. Three guesses (first two don’t count): no package.

It is now 6 a.m. on Day 3... do I know where my package is? Guess....see previous sentence above.

I am disgruntled, worried and expect to spend the day sitting on my front stoop...in the rain...with signs lining my (longish) driveway saying (in red ink)...hey FedEx guy, I’m here. Call me! Written in caps.

Moral of the story: think twice before requiring a signature. I thought I was doing the prudent thing, but it has come back to bite me in the *ss.

I have had similar problems with FedEx. Wish there was an alternative. Once, the driver didn't really even attempt to deliver. My wife was receiving a package from a different FedEx truck at the time the signature required driver was updating the delivery as "no one home". I did get it delivered the next day after chewing the supervisor a new one, but it boiled down to the driver just being in too much of a hurry to get home and just skipping me! And, by the way, it showed up on my door the next day, but they did not knock or get a signature!

I was out for some exercise on a beautiful Michigan winter late afternoon, the feel of the impending Spring was in the air. I stopped now and then for a shot, when I saw the reflection of the trees in the puddles on the water. Capturing the sun bursting through the trees and the reflections, made for a nice composition. Converting it to B&W, seemed to really bring it to life. What do you think?

B&W. Perfect scene for mono and the blue sky distracts from the subject (the trees and their reflection).

Crop, but keep the lines. Here is my stab (I just used the "snipping tool" - did not download, so might not be super sharp). Cactus is at the intersection of "rule of thirds" grid.
