Best in B&W?

I was out for some exercise on a beautiful Michigan winter late afternoon, the feel of the impending Spring was in the air. I stopped now and then for a shot, when I saw the reflection of the trees in the puddles on the water. Capturing the sun bursting through the trees and the reflections, made for a nice composition. Converting it to B&W, seemed to really bring it to life. What do you think?

I like it a lot. I did one years ago after a rain with lamp post reflections along a walking path. I used to run B&W film in an old SP500 as a second cam on my walks just in case. It is still one of my favourites to this day.

I like the B&W more.
Maybe because of so little color contrast?

I think the monochrome is best for this subject and composition. How about increasing contrast a bit?

That reflection is awesome and your perspective/composition with the angle of the street is really, really nice. I don't have a major preference of one over the other, though I agree with marquina that more contrast could be beneficial. But this one probably shouldn't be a global change (equal to all parts). If you have the ability to do selective editing, especially using curves or levels, and then some dodging/burning, I think you will have a super-duper image.

I usually decide color vs. B&W on the basis of what the color adds to the photo. Here, it doesn't do much at all. I do agree with the people who felt more contrast and maybe some dodging and burning on the B&W would put it over the top.

The B&W is more dramatic, Sue!

I too vote for the B&W. Esp like the the sun burst rays and the tree reflections in the street puddles. I do have to agree with Linda in that a bit more contrast may have added a bit more to it. Sort of a way to enhance the "eye candy" affect.

Great capture. B&W vs color is a toss up for me, both well done.
