Z7 II manual half the size of the Z7 I, so basic it even skips the usual 1st section showing all the parts of the camera. Have to use online digital to find out anything more.

Wait for 6 months or so and Thomas Hogan will have a user guide that will probably be over 1000 pages. More info on the Z7II than you could want.

There was a thread a couple days ago about the early release of AI to the first 30,000 purchasers. I think I should have been one of the early birds since I purchased it before some of the posters that received it. But, whatever I didn't. It's supposed to be available today. So far I haven't received email for download. I keep logging on and it says "Luminar will be available later this year. I will receive email to download". Has anyone who wasn't eligible to get it on the 11th tried getting it today?

I preordered and received an email to download a couple of days ago. Skylum is possible staggering there emails so as not to overwhelm their system.

If you are installing the new Luminar AI, get ready for some major headaches.
The download for me was long but installed ok.
The major headache was that it asked me to sign in to use the new software, which is ludicrous, since I had already signed in to download the piece of C...p.
It put it into the PS plugins ok, but when you try to use it, it asks for you to sign in. It would not take my password and instructed me to reset it. This is where the bottle of Tylenol will be helpful. I spent a half hour or more trying to reset the dang thing. Finally, I guess it got tired of me swearing at it and it finally worked.

Major headache. I hope the new AI is worth the pain in the butt.

Skylum has you sign in to verify your purchase. Did you get a 100 digit activation code (like virtually every other program you install) from Skylum to activate Luminar? NO. Signing in is Skylum's method of activating Luminar.

[quote=goldstar46]Skylum Luminar AI... Not Working

Well... For those of you who have either bought Luminar AI, considering it.. or Just wondering... I am still having problems with my Luminar AI and Not much help from Tech Support

I download the software back on Dec 8th, and have had No 'Operational function' with the Main Manu:

Contacted their Tech Support on Dec 9th via email.. I am starting to get "P.O.'ed" @ Skylum & Tech Support...

I have requested 'help' via their support email service... I have gotten two responses from them and in EACH case, it has taken either 44 hours or 43.5 hours for them to 'write back to me'

I started my 'Request' on Dec 9, and now, on Dec 13, I still have NO Answers ???

NO... They have Not Solved my problem yet
YES... They can NOT find the 'stuff' you send to them via Dropbox
NO... They DON'T have a Ph# for Tech Support...

All of the above boils down to their 'Tech Support' SUCKS

I have just sent them a 'third' email and will probably have to wait another 44 hours before I hear from them again ???

This is NO way to run a 'Major Software Company' and I am about to ask for my money back........

PS: YES... I have downloaded two additional updates and NO Fix yet... The Entire 'Main Menu' does NOT work for me in Windows 10...

I have also been monitoring their "Luminar and Skylum Issuse" Facebook page and I have notice many, many similar complaints and a lot of very unhappy people

I believe it is time for Skylum to come out with a public announcement admitting their software is NOT ready for 'Prime Time' publication, that it is still 'in Beta' format, and they should beg for the publics understanding....

AND, of course, there will be those where the software does work, and I do understand that is "OK"

Cheers

Since the software was not to be released until 12-15-20, you may have downloaded a beta version. I preordered and just received the okay to download. So for I have had no issues

Atten: to Hoggers interested in the new Skylum Luminar AI

Watched the below video produced by Anthony Morganti on Youtube yesterday...

Anthony Morganti is a professional photographer and photography educator from Buffalo, New York... He is also a Youtube blogger and educator on the subject of photography, mostly talking about many of the different brands of software used for developing digital images... Anthony also has been a 'Beta Tester' for the Luminar AI product, been doing videos on the subject, and he seems to have a 'good line' of communications with the inside developers..

Well, yesterday @ the tail-end of one of his such videos, he has stated that those who have pre-ordered a copy of Luminar AI should be seeing the product on / or around Dec 15... See the below around the 13 min. mark.

I should be on the list........ ha ha ha

Nikon just released a firmware update for the D850 that enables the use of CFExpress cards, which are faster than the identically formatted XQD cards.

Is there any substantial reason to install the update?

Any reason to "upgrade" to CFExpress?

You will not get any speed increase with the use of a CF Express card in your D850. It's a limitation of the camera not the card.

CFExpress, not CF (Compact Flash). It was an error since corrected. These cards are faster (and right now even more expensive) than XQD cards. But it is an open standard, whereas XQD is a proprietary design. Cards may be easier to find, although I've never had a problem in my area.

This is a quote from Thom Hogan, so don't expect any great speed boosts:

"don't expect speed increases, as the card slot mechanisms in these cameras has a fixed upper limit that dates to early XQD. Some D500 owners need to perform the update twice (pay attention to the instructions on Nikon's download page).

Finally, note that Nikon so far has only said the following cards are compatible: Sony G Series, Lexar CFe Pro, ProGrade Gold, and SanDisk Extreme Pro with ANCNN suffix in part number (in US; different in other regions). The "approved memory card" pages on most subsidiaries has not been updated for these models yet."

I downloaded Nik Software when Google offered it for free. I've used that version for a lot of years now. This week I received notice (when using Nik in conjunction with Photoshop Elements) that I have a two week trial version that is set to expire in (now) 11 days. Has anyone else received similar messages?

I'm wondering how they know that I'm using Nik because Google did not have me register it way back when.

Just opening NIK in photoshop may send information to either Adobe and/or DxO that you are using the program.

Hope this is as a straight foward question as I would like it to be. For owners of the D 850 after using the D 850 would you buy again after your experience with it?

Absolutely

Wondering how to move my photos to another storage medium from my iPhone.
Please make it as easy as possible for me.
Thanks in advance

I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max. As with all the iPhones I have had, all I do is plug the iPhone into the computer Using the cord that came with the iPhone. A window opens up on my computer asking me what i would like to do. One of the options is to open the file location to view the files. I click on that and windows explorer open to the iPhone folder. All your photos will be located in subfolders. You can then copy them to where you want them to be saved. Very easy.

Hogs,
Why is it that I have to drop the size of an image file from about 60MB to 433k in order to send it out via email and even then it just squeaked by?
I have asked this question before including the fact that Photoshop, Elements and my Gmail program all give me discrepant results regarding image size.
I thought I would just have to keep resizing until today when the rediculously small size of an image just made me annoyed.
Is there an answer to this situation. I use Photoshop 2021 and Elements 13 with Windows 10.
Thanks,

It has nothing to do with your computer or the software that you are using. It has everything to do with the file size limitations that your internet provider places on their system. Generally if you want to send large files they have to be "zipped".

I am a self taught "photographer" and use a Nikon 7100 with an 18-300 AF-S DX Nikkor lens. I love taking pictures of landscapes, architecture, people, actually anything. I love this camera and lens. Unfortunately, due to a recent medical issue with my arms, the camera and lens are too heavy for me to use any more. I'm looking to buy a lighter camera. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should look at? What about mirror-less cameras? I've done some research but haven't found a replacement yet. Thanks.
