The driver, not knowing what an "anium" is, throws his wife under the bus saying it's hers, then distracts by admitting the snake is his. OK, not so funny.

Until you find out...this is based on an event in Guthrie, Oklahoma on June 26! See:
https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/11/us/rattlesnake-uranium-oklahoma-trnd/index.html

In addition, there was an open bottle of whiskey, a gun in the console, and the car was stolen!

AND...because the driver had a hunting license and it was rattlesnake season, AND the uranium ore is not illegal (it can allegedly be bought on Amazon), there were no charges brought for the snake or uranium. Oh yeah, he claimed he had the uranium to create a "super snake."

Funny ole world.

How about another choice between the Minox B and the Minox EC?

I'll second Northwoods Outfitters for general info. They also helped my wife and I find a great guide, very knowledgeable, affordable, and we saw several moose that day. That was quite a few years ago - if I can dig up the guide's info I'll pass it on. For something a bit different, get directions to the B52 crash site on Elephant Mountain.

In telecomm, many copper wires have been replaced with optical fibers. The light source is usually a laser which sends pulses of high energy infrared light. A sign in a development lab I worked in read:
"WARNING: Do not look into the fiber again with your remaining eye."

Decades ago (ironically) I was at a poetry reading by Alastair Reid, where he read his "Old Painter to Young Model." It was brilliant. I had a copy of his book with it, but that's long gone and my Internet-fu has been weak with this search. I do remember the closing lines:
Forgive me my age
As I forgive you your youth
My truth is not your truth

Just lovely. I've never seen the B&W version before and kestrels are one of my favorite birds!

I have the BC700 with two contacts on the neg end for either AA or AAA. Haven't tried AAA yet as I mostly use the Eneloop Pro 2450 AAs.

I got the Eneloop kit which included the 4-cell AA/AAA charger a few years ago, and have had no problems with it or the cells. The charger says its a model BQ-CC17. I've picked up probably a couple dozen more cells by now, too. The kit came with housings to make equivalent C and D cells - has anyone had experience using them?

It's hard to tell from this angle. Looking from the front, if it says Ford, it's a Falcon, if it says Studebaker, it's a Hawk.

The first camera I bought was a Nikomat FTn with 50mm f1.4 in 1968, which I got "mail order" from a shop in Hong Kong that was recommended to me ny someone who had bought from them. It arrived, shipped in its own little wooden crate! Wonderful camera! It was stolen, and I replaced it with a Nikkormat FTn, complete with USA warranty. Stolen. Replaced with an F2 Photomic FTn. Stolen. Replaced with a black F2SB. Still have it. Then I got a D70s. Still have it (may turn it into an IR mode). Just got a D7200 a few weeks ago and am really happy with it. I really enjoy those "it can do WHAT?" moments as I continue to learn more.

The Moosehead Lake area is gorgeous! Stop in at the Northwoods Outfitters in the center of Greenville and chat with the folks there for ideas of where to go, or to hire a guide. For some unusual shots, go to Elephant Mountain to the B-52 crash site. It's a very short walk from the side of a dirt road. Be respectful and take nothing but photos and leave nothing but footprints. You can get info on line or at the Outfitters. If you stay the night, you can choose all the way from rustic ("we shut off the generators at 10:00 PM") to a few elegant inns, and much in between.

By the way, Portsmouth is on the coast in New Hampshire. Portland is on the coast in Maine.
