"Little pitchers have big ears." I can't remember how many times I heard my grandmother tell my grandfather when his language got a bit salty.
Does the switch button slide forward to lock the mirror up? The one I use on my Pentax does this every once in awhile and drives me nuts until I remember to check it. Good luck.

There is no dog like a terror dog. Tough, and always ready to defend the house, I never fear anything getting past her. I never knew the wonder of Yorkies until we were gifted with one. Never a dull moment with Bitsy around. Sounds like your Yorkie is just as much fun as ours.

I'm not going to wade through all the comments so if someone got here first I apologize. I got a pristine manual for my D300 from KEH for a whopping $8. Now I have the paper manual, the one loaded on my phone just didn't work for me. Good luck and have a very merry Christmas.

Mr. Jenkins algebra class, then that long walk home trying to make sense of it.
They're good scavengers that fit right into a healthy eco system. If the rivers are full of fish you'll see less predation on rural feral critters. No fish, fewer ducks, just for one. Dapper good looking bird in its tree.
Thanks

I took a few iages tonight. Here is a jpg image that I took and then the raw version of it I edited in PS Elements 2020 and I really have no idea what I did t create this interesting image. I think it is so cool!
You did better than me. My ancient Sigma 600mm mirror lens could only get this close.
Hmmmm! The heading says 18-140, the lens says 10-24. You're not a former Abe's of Maine employee are you? :-}
It has always amazed me that Chevy produced the ugliest cars for three years running then they came up with the 61. I was always partial to the bubble top, but the drop top is right there with it. This is a really beautiful example.

The shot I missed this last summer, the ISS going right through the Milky Way. I was standing there watching it while taking the little dogs out for a QP just after sunset. Now I know that the ISS must be going west to south east with an elevation of at least 40 degrees. Damn, I still see that shot in my head. Standing there watching it happen was the most painful photography moment I'll probably ever have.

Ken, When I first moved to WA in 1978 I lived in Auburn. It was September and the first couple of days it rained. I was living in my van working second shift at the Renton Boeing plant. The third day I awoke to clear skies and crisp autumn weather. When I hopped out of the van and turned to the east there was Mt. Rainier seeming so close I could reach out and touch it. I started thinking about getting an SLR camera right then and bought my first, a Minolta, that Christmas. I stayed in WA for 28 years and now 14 years after I left, I still miss it. Next time you head over the pass take the highway going north out of Chelan up the Okanagon Valley. I saw it often from the air in my glider and made notes about where to stop and take photos on the ride back to Chelan. Absolutely awesome places to stop for a shot or two.

Roxie, Might be good to know if you wanted to reward yourself with a nice steak for a good capture. ;-}

Well, the commentary on this topic certainly set the day off to a good start.
Don't know what camera you have but KEH has quite a few Tamron, Sigma and, yes, Quantaray lenses in the zoom range you mention for under $100. Do a search there in "shop by top mounts" and set the sort to Price Ascending. I think you'll find a replacement lens at a price point that will make it uneconomical to attempt to get yours fixed and you'll have a bit of a warranty. I had a Sigma 28-200 of film era vintage lock up at 28 mm and they simply refunded my money. As I recall I paid less than $40 for it and they didn't consider it worthy of returning the lens.
Good luck
Rick
