A couple days ago while out and about enjoying the warmth and sunshine I pulled my car into the access area of a creek. As I was walking from my car to the creek this bald eagle flew up from the water. Rightly thinking it wouldn't fly too far away for a shot I got the camera and monopod from the car. After getting shots of it I saw a deer carcass in the creek it had been feeding on. I don't like the busy background but we can control only so much. Yesterday while traveling down the highway I saw a bald eagle fly up from the highway with a squirrel in its claws.

They're good scavengers that fit right into a healthy eco system. If the rivers are full of fish you'll see less predation on rural feral critters. No fish, fewer ducks, just for one. Dapper good looking bird in its tree.
Thanks

Rick

A very nice sharp photo. Your right about not having control of the background but it looks nice to me. The branch growing out of its side can be easily removed in pp.

Wonderful bird! It seems this image is a great opportunity to practice your post skills. I'd take away the branch that flows from the bird to the main tree. That's an easy removal. Your idea of a less cluttered background would be a more complex change, but it should be easy to pick-out the bird, his branch and the main tree and then add a nature blur to the background. Let that cycle around in your brain as we enter the cold winter of video training.

Thanks. I will remove part of that branch with content aware.
