Hello, My fellow photography buffs.
I wanted to start this thread and just ask each of my hedgehogs...
What is that one thing, one subject that you want to get the perfect shot of. The one subject you can't get out of your thoughts, it drives you to keep shooting.
The one that makes you constantly think of what lens, what shutter speed, aperture, what time of day, night.
Have you recently captured that shot, Share it of so. Share the experience, the thrill.
Looking forward to seeing the response.
The only thing missing is the ideal type of clouds I want. Otherwise, I know the spot, lens and aperture. The exposure will be determined when I go back. So will the processing.
The frustration is waiting for the plague to subside so I can go back again when the weather is what I want.

In terms of passion, I'm always trying for the Money Shot ...
Killer whale breaching in a stormy sea.
I'm an old guy, I have a home in Kentucky and Florida, two beautiful places to get wonderful pictures. Yes I have gone to the deserts of Utah to the sea ports of the Atlantic seabord to the Chesepeak to the ocean and the skies but my favorites among favorites is fall color, and ocean sunsets.
I have trees in my own Kentucky yard that when I go outside in the early morning and see the low sun shining on the fall color of those trees my breath is taken away. As wonderful as fall color is I have a passion for sunsets. In Florida, especially the South West Coast you can get again, breath taking sunsets. It's the colors. I'm in awe of both the autum trees and the everyday sunsets.
My photography subjects are much varied but I enjoy most the colorful subjects.
I'll know it when I shoot it.
Once I've accomplished that shot and achieved the pinnacle,
there would be no need to keep shooting would there.

For me its capturing the northern lights with Denali in the foreground. So far I have managed a relatively fair shot of the mountain, but will need to go back in winter to capture the Aurora with it.
If I know I would already got the shot!
I'm pretty excited for the next solar eclipse in 2024. I got some pretty good shots of the last one, and definitely learned a lot. I keep thinking about that.

They grow so fast, you only have a very small window to get it right.

As a bridal makeup artist I'm obsessed with beauty genre editorials...
Below please find but a few of the hundreds of beauty editorials I've photographed... most of which I did the makeup artistry and/or trained the MUA... And yes male grooming is also on the list since quite a few very lucrative gigs were with corporate male CEO's doing their PR marketing imagery.
btw, the global make-up market in 2019 is estimated to be worth about 75 billion U.S. dollars.

In reply to your topic Passion shot. I drive by this small pond everyday on my road. It's surrounded by weeds and once the summer begins it becomes stagnant, covered with green pond scum. I have tried to throw a large rock into the pond to create a mushroom type water splash and try to get a photo. I can't even throw the rock as far into the weeds. I have taken many photographs of the pond but that is the image I have in my mind. I'll go through my photos later and try to find one to show you of this pond. Thank for the topic.

A closeup of sweat beads on the soccer player's face, with grass kicked up and spraying through the bottom of the image. Or the sweat beads on a basketball players forehead, just as he has just got the rebound, and is going back up for the shot under his own net--wearing a dark blue uniform...... Other than that, I'll be happy with a "Sports Illustrated" cover shot.
I have two: I’m always looking for the perfect barn and the perfect path.
