I’m so sorry that this might seem like foolish answer. I have this lens on a D7200 and am very happy with it. Check your switches on the side of the barrel and make sure you’re on auto and not manual. It’s happened to me. It is a great lens to use. Had mine for years. Good shooting.

I had the Nikon 16-80mm f/2.8-4 lens. I was disappointed with it. It's like a $500 to $600 lens that sells for over $1000. I already had the previous 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. They seem to have lowered the quality when they went to the 16-80mm. The build quality is not as good and it has a lower quality focusing motor. The focusing motor is noisy. I returned the 16-80mm and found a camera store that still had a new 16-85mm.

I use the Nikon 16-85mm (all around) on a D7200 and find it a quality lens that would serve your purpose nicely. It gives just enough on the wide end, and is great for bringing in any subject close. For wider purpose I use a Nikon 10-24mm (astro), and for longer a Sigma 150-600mm(birding). The 1/3 crop feature of the camera also gives you options.
Just my 2 cents. Good luck in your choice and enjoy your camera.

I love the D7200 so much that I have two. One setup for landscape and the other for wildlife.
As you learn the features you will understand what everyone has been saying. Good Luck with your new camera, I'm sure you will enjoy it as much we all do. Here is a pre-dawn sunrise from this morning.

I have 2 - D7200's one for landscape and one for wildlife, paired with a 16x85, or 18x140 or a 150x600 these cameras have served me well in all aspects, Nighttime, daytime, portrait and on the wing. personally I will never buy another camera as these do it all for me and I love them. I say go for it and enjoy the heck outa of em. However if you have some more money in your pocket to burn, just buy an 850 or the best you can for what you can afford and ride the wild road !! Have a blast in whatever decision you make. Enjoy yourself !!

Only one problem with that I HAVE DONE EXACTLY THAT. My phone will not recognize the camera PERIOD, THE END!!!

you download the wmu app to your phone, when you're ready, you go into the settings, select wmu, click on the app, go to menu in your your phone to WiFi on and click and the open the then open live view. All should sink. Once you take a pic it will download to your phone, Wallah !! It's not rocket science here. I have a d7200 and thats how i do it. its a bit of a pain if youire doing a time frame but ios works !!
Good Luck ! or just buy a shutter boss ll Remote Switch with Digital timer by VelloRC-N211 and you'd be goo to go too !!

Although only one member has mentioned the Nikon D750, I think it's a great in between all around camera, I own 2 D7200's and love them. The D750 allows you to change settings that cover the gamete from DX to an FX lens as well as sensor size. My D7200's I use or my specific needs as I know what I need to shoot my pictures. For someone who really doesn't mention what they either need a cam for, or the gap they want to fill, maybe it's just a want and not a need. And that's ok too. Your camera takes nice pictures. What are you looking to do better? If you've outgrown your camera that's one thing, however it you think that buying a new camera is going to help you take better pictures, you should think again. It's the person behind the camera that takes the photo's, not the camera. Maybe you should invest in some decent glass and then check out your captures !! Or Just decide your budget and go buy yourself the best camera you can afford and have fun with it !! Wishing you a very Happy New Year ! And I hope you to see the first pic you take of the New Year !! Cheers and Good Luck On Your Decision !

Can you say roughly what the range was?

Hello WD,

My range was about 30+ yards for these pictures.
Glad you enjoyed them.

I am thinking about putting a Sigma
150-600 on my D500. I think the combination would be great. Does anyone have any experience with it?

I can appreciate your dilemma. I too wrestled with the big boy decision of what to pair with my D7200 with. Nikon 200/500 or Sigma 150/600C.
In as much as I shoot primarily wildlife, I wanted as much reach as I could muster with as much clarity. We all want that. I eventually went with the Sigma C and USB Dock for updating.
When my camera is in 1/3 crop, I'm shooting almost a 1200mm lens, and it shows. I don't need any 2bys or 1/4bys I just get closer. As far as continuous shutter, 6fps is plenty with a 100 frame buffer and I've never needed that. I purchased mine shortly after they came out and looked at the comparisons and then never looked back. I really wished Nikon came out with a bigger lens to compete but they haven't. All my other lens are Nikon.
If you're gonna jump, you might as well with both feet in. I took these pics with a willing subject last week, and think you'll be extremely happy with your choice. Or rent one of each and check them out thoroughly before purchasing. Either way, Enjoy your Holidays and keep Shooting till you find the combo that makes you happy !! Buy the way I have 2 D7200's one for wildlife and the other for Landscape ,Sunrise. Sunset pics. I hate changing Lenses. Enjoy the pics too.
