Hello. I'm looking to purchase a low light camera under $500.00. Any recommendations? What is a sensor and what numbers are good? Currently I have a canon powershot sx60 and does not do well in low light. I see the background noise
Thank you
Lynette

If your subject is static, then one option is to merge several shots to remove the noise.

Are any forum members planning to buy the Arsenal system? If so, what was the deciding factor?

I just got a polarizing filter (BH) for my Nikon. The last time I used one was 30 years ago and was struck by the intense effects on clouds, visible through the viewfinder. Today, to my surprise, I could see absolutely no effect, no matter the filter rotation. This was true for multiple locations and shooting direction. Is there a reason for this lack of visible effect?

I am using LED bulbs while making multiple exposures for focus stacking, and have run into a problem. The images go through a cycle, starting fine, getting progressively darker for 3-4 shots, then getting lighter for 3-4 shots. This cycling continues throughout the sequence. Does anyone have an explanation/solution for the effect?

Thanks

It might be some type of scale insect, they come in some fairly bizarre forms.

That’s it. Thanks. It grows in a deserted factory near our house but I hadn’t noticed it in flower.

Getting a series of shots to create a focus-stacked image can be done either by keeping the camera at a fixed distance from the subject and adjusting the focusing, or by keeping a fixed focus and moving the camera toward the subject. I have looked for a site that analyses the difference between these two methods, especially as it relates to lighting and image parallax. If any readers are familiar with such a site, I would appreciate a link. Thanks.

Thank you. How did you get the white background? This is an excellent job of stacking.

This is done in a lab setting, so the subject is held several inches above a white base, which eliminates shadowing.

Excellent work- great detail and a unique approach. Would you be willing to share some details on your technique?

Thanks. I use a Nikon D500 with a 105mm Macro lens. Lighting is from two 500W equivalent LEDs and an off-camera flash. The image is focus-stacked from 40 images using Helicon's Remote and Focus programs.

Interesting. From the video, It looks like he might be doing the same as you are: piecing together sections in a stacked pano. I would think another critical factor would be having a precise start point and end point for each of these sections. So how do you keep it all " on the same plane? Do you have a rail with an x, y, and z movement?
Yes, I use the Cognisys system to program all three axes. Just as well, since a shoot can last for hours and I would hate to do it all manually. On a side note, I use constant LED lighting since my flash either overheats or the batteries go dead.

I quite often use 2,000-3,000 for a single final image. Each image is approximately 100 shots, and the final image is created as a 2D panorama from a 4x6 series. For me, the biggest problem is matching the lighting in adjacent shots with a 40% overlap.

I have a pixma pro 9ooo to access the head for removal .You need to plug the machine in and when hear the head travel pull the plug .The head should have unlocked and somewhere in the middle...at least it does on the 9000.My main printer is a Canon iPF 8300 a 44 " printer and I do The same on it .On the large printer you can also enter a service mode by holding down Two buttons and turn it on .The 9500 may have a similar service mode .

My problem is that the head didn't move under any conditions. As I stated earlier, Canon tech support spent an hour trying everything with no success.

Less than two years and less than 500 photos printed. It had just finished one and then when I hit Print for the next the B200 error came up.

I would add Helicon to your reading list. Remote allows you to control both your camera and the Stackshot rails and Focus assembles the stack for you. http://www.heliconsoft.com
