The D610 has a new shutter mechanism that increases the fps to 6 (the D600 is 5.5 fps). The D610 also has a new "Quiet Continuous Mode" that gives a quieter mirror slap when shooting in continuous but limits the fps to 3.
It also has a slight change to the WB sensor that is said to enrichen skin tones.

Does not sound like enough of a difference to warrant an upgrade if your D600 is working fine.

If it is as good as you say buy it. Very good walk around and daytime action shots. Not as good as a Canon ( or probably a Nikon) but very good for the price and most of the time it will yield very good quality.

Here is a tripod shoot with my Nikon D300. Lens is 250mm.
Camera is program mode 1/320 F9 ISO 200

Chimney is about 150' away

Tamron AF 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 Di-II LD Aspherical (IF)

Anyone ever used this lens? Got a chance to get one in mint condition with hood for $200. Used to sell for $479 a few years ago. Would be using it outdoors as a walk around lens for my Nikon D300. Just wondering what the optical performance is. Good, Acceptable or Worthless Junk, STAY AWAY?

I have had my D300 for a little over a week now. I am amazed at how much better it is than my old D200. The low light capabilities are astonishing. The 2 attached photos were taken around 11pm, hand held with no flash. I ran the RAW files through Paintshop Pro X6 one step photo fix and Topaz DeNoise saving as JPG

However in real terms the D300 can rarely achieve a speed of 25Mbps when shooting busts. So in practical terms a Sandisk Extreme is a bit overkill. An Extreme Pro is way overkill.

However one should do a test themselves as nothing beats seeing something with your own eyes.

Having said that though, the feelgood factor is also important to some.

Oliver.

I know the Sandisk Extreme Pro 16GB ( 90 MB/s ) is WAY OVER KILL but I paid $50 for it brand new in the box. I certainly would never have dished out $100 for it and it does the job.

My opinion of the cloud is each to their own. it may be a good deal for some and not for others. When you buy the package and get the CD/DVD you are still only buying a license. One case I can see is if the user does not have internet access or limited access for long periods of time. From what I have read the cloud software stops working if it can not " Call Home " every 30 days. Then having a purchased product with the CD/DVD would make perfect sense.

Another B&H rep is henryp. Also you can contact the aforementioned Hershel, but his specialty is online marketing. Both are members here and respond to PM's.

Sounds like this might just be a case of buyer's remorse ..........
I agree, why would you have paid $450 for a repair without even trying to contact B&H? WARRANTY .... DUH! B&H is a great company and I have dealt with them for several years with complete satisfaction. Don't be blaming B&H for your lack of common sense.

I think I am just going to keep the 35mm 1.8G.
I have had a couple friends tell me I am nuts to part with it
for a zoom that does not have the low light capabilities, focus speed and most likely the sharpness.

Thanks to all who commented

Got a friend who wants to trade me his mint condition Nikon 28-105mm 3.5 - 4.5D lens for my Nikon 35mm 1.8G lens. I would be using this lens on my Nikon D300. Was wanting to know if this is a good deal or not.

Thanks

I know, the color balance was mis-set.

I would get a D700 but do not have 3000+ laying around.

My D300 writing a 14 bit uncompressed NEF ( RAW ) file takes less than 1 second.

The attached photo was taken with my D300 @ ISO 3200. No flash and no enhancements. Was converted from NEF to JPG by Photoshop. After I did a little cleanup with Topaz DeNoise the photo is virtually noise free with almost no lose in detail. I know this may not be a surprise to D300 owners but I have had this D300 less than a week and came from a D200. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Had I known what the D300 was capable of over the D200 I would had made the change a long time ago.

The problem is that the terminology and standards of its use are no longer consistent. Class ratings topped out at 10 or UHS1, both of which are 10mbps. The same reference may say 100X = 14.6mbps ~ Class 10 ~ 67X. Now if we're talking about SD cards (we are, aren't we?), SDHC may be from 12.5-25mbps and SDXC cards may write 104mbps. But there are no ISO ENFORCEMENT criteria controlling the labeling of cards by anybody. So SD card manufacturers label their cards as they wish. You can now find cards labeled "10X USC-1H 600X"; what the h377 does that mean?
The problem is that the terminology and standards ... (show quote)

The Nikon D300 uses Compact Flash cards not SD

So far as the labeling of anything now a days it is
" IF YOU CAN'T DAZZLE THEM WITH BRILLIANCE "
" THEN BAFFLE THEM WITH B***S*** "

So far the focus, color and exposure have all been correct on my D300 with the linear polarizing filter. Either it does not make any difference on this camera or I have been lucky so far .....
