This is the first time I have tried a polarizing filter and I am stunned at the difference. Taken with a D300 and 35mm 1.8G lens. No enhancements, on converted from RAW to JPG with Photoshop. I borrowed a friends filter and after seeing this needless to say I will be buying a polarizing filter. This filter was an old linear polarizing filter NOT a circular.
Beautiful with an enhancement to the greens too. Thank you for sharing.
Be aware that the Linear Polarizer will not always function properly with AF and your exposure meter. It also gives a stronger polarization effect than the Circular Polarizers do.
Didn't think a linear polarizer would work with today's digitals. MT?

Karl Taylor swears by them.
Jon Greenbro also tested both types and indicates no issues and they both will work fine.
I "love" my CPL. When I use it under the right conditions it takes a good photo and adds the "umph" that makes it great.

I have a very old Tiffen Linear Polarizer that I use regularly due to its strength. If you use manual focus it will work "Most" of the time. With AF it will almost never work.
So far the focus, color and exposure have all been correct on my D300 with the linear polarizing filter. Either it does not make any difference on this camera or I have been lucky so far .....
very nice colors... thanks for posting.
That's quite a difference!
How many stops do you have to open the lense to get more light?

Been my experience that polarizers will cost you a coupla stops. I usta use a Sony DSC_F828 and it was decidedly not good with low light. Upping the IOS on that camera resulted in too much noise, and so I dint use the polarizer much. Haven't used a polarizer on my D7000 yet, as I can generally get the same results ion post-processing in Lightroom.
