Only CS3 and higher qualify for this program.

Why would want to go to the cloud? It is a big scam to suck money out of everyone and make Adobe rich. This goes for all of them that want you to use the cloud.

No it is not available. Asking this question suggests you are not too familiar with the intricacies of the pro-level PS programs. Elements and/or Lightroom may suit your needs. If you choose to study the PS system, you can sign up for a PS5 course - the junior college near me offers such a course, and a school near you may do the same. If you do that, you will be eligible for a reduced rate cloud subscription while you are attending the school.

No, anyone can subscribe. It's actually a good way to use photoshop without the cost involved of buying it. It's like renting. They're are several plans too choose from. And you are always up to date with latest versions.

My opinion of the cloud is each to their own. it may be a good deal for some and not for others. When you buy the package and get the CD/DVD you are still only buying a license. One case I can see is if the user does not have internet access or limited access for long periods of time. From what I have read the cloud software stops working if it can not " Call Home " every 30 days. Then having a purchased product with the CD/DVD would make perfect sense.

Hi,

I'm looking into PS CC for my business and have found you must have PS CS3 or higher and it may not be part of the PS Suite. Unfortunately I have and use PS CS3 Suite and cannot use it to upgrade to the rental system.

My question to all of you, "Does any one of you have an old Photoshop CS3 (regular or Extended) that I could purchase from you so I can use it to upgrade to the rental system. My e-mail address is albeatty2@aol.com or my toll free number is 888-243-3597. Take care & ...

For what it is worth, I for one like the PS CC subscription. I am on SS and have limited income. I am able to use the best photo editing software for $20 per month. There are hundreds of free videos to help you get the most from PS. One of the first things I did not like about PS was the fact that it did not give you thumbnail view when trying to find a file to open. I downloaded Bridge and use it and I love it. It gives thumbnails for RAW, jpg, and PSD files.

It works for me. I am having fun with it. I had a PS Elements 11 loaded and removed it because it no longer used it.

I'll stick with CS6 extended. Paid once, don't need to keep paying every month.

When I decided to subscribe to CS5 back in January 2012, I did so because I regularly upgrade; no skipping upgrades for me. Thus, when I went to Excel and entered the full price and the upgrade price every 15-18 months, and compared it to subscribing, subscribing came out much less expensive. It was a no brainer, and that's back when a subscription was $35 a month. Now, with Adobe Cloud, I have Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5.2 for just $9.99 a month. Still a no-brainer!

Please tell me why using the cloud is a big scam to suck money out of its users.

Learning that the $9.99 pricing for Photoshop and Lightroom wasn’t a temporary promotion scam, and that I would also be able to load it on my laptop, I decided to move forward. I went to Adobe’s website and learned that my education version of Photoshop CS5 wouldn’t qualify for the deal.

A minute or so later, a window popped up from a technician, asking if he could help me with my purchase. I told him via chat that I wanted to participate in the plan and he said the education versions didn’t qualify for the $9.99 pricing. We chatted back and forth for 20 minutes discussing alternatives. I finally asked him if there was some way to upgrade my education version to the standard version that would qualify. He quoted me a price of $199 just to upgrade.

While I was chatting with him, another window flashed on my screen, with Adobe’s toll free sales number. I put the rep on chat on hold, and called the sales line. The sales rep on the phone heard I had the educational version and wanted to upgrade. She put me on hold for about 90 seconds, and then came back on the line saying that I was qualified for the $9.99 cloud pricing – and signed me up. Moral of story is, try actually talking to someone if you’re trying to get something done.

You will have Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5.2 as long as you keep paying the subscription fee every month. The moment you stop your payments you won't be able to access these two programs. They will remain on your computer but they will be "unoperable". That's what the subscription is all about.

See the question "What happens if I decide to stop my membership? " in the FAQs below.

What happens if I decide to stop my membership?

You will continue to have access to free Creative Cloud member benefits, and if you saved your work to your computer you will continue to have access to those files. You will no longer have access to the Creative Cloud desktop applications or most of the services that are components of a Creative Cloud membership.
