Also have the 5dIII, great camera. I bought the Tamron 24-70 2.8 Vibration Compensation. The lenses is great, though best for outside, flash. The Canon version of this lens is also 2.8 now, but $800 more.

Simply, have another backup. I do. I have the IMac drive, which is 1TB. I have a 3TB Time Machine Drive, which as you know keeps files back up for years even if you delete one from your Imac drive, it will be on the Time Machine Drive, and I also have a 500gb external drive, portable, which I use to back up only photos, and holds all mine, 30-40000 as well. Recently I bought a 256 GB SD and it too can easily handle all my photos, but to date have not.

The app description comments say ShutterCount does not support the 5D. Any alternative apps?

I have the 135, and quite frankly rarely use it. It's good for outdoor use, not much indoors with family as you have to stand back too far. As far as picture quality, certainly great, but I would buy something more versatile.

Well, my take on this conversation is that higher end DSLR's have a lot of features and thus a lot of things that are in the menu's. Yes, it takes a while, but I would start off very simple, even in auto mode, so that at least you can begin getting some pictures. As for the LCD turning off quickly, this is a setting as well. I don't have a Nikon so I cannot tell you how to extend it, but I am sure there is as way, all the way to on full time.

An example of complexity, I have had my Canon 5D MK III for a bit over 2 years, and wanted to change the focus points from the full 61 to just the center ones. Back to the book, had to read up on it, and it was not that clear, but I am sure I will figure it out, then forget again.

DNY 256 gb. Now $109 on Amazon. it was actually $96 last week and may drop again. I have used this big capacity SD on my 5D MK III with no issues. I don't see any issues with speed.

I found great results with Red River photo paper, even using my Canon MX920.I do have a HP 8700 as well, but only use it for larger prints.

More oil drilling has been done under Obama than any of the other recent presidents. Oil output has more than doubles in the past six years. So, where has Obama blocked oil production again??????

I have an Imac, love it. It's a 3year old model, so only 16 gb ram max, and not the new 5k. I would love to step up to the new model, with 32 gb ram, and the I7 processor. Don't even think of the downsides, there are none. It is pricely with all the bells and whistles, but it's worth every penny. The display on mine is excellent for photos, I can't imagine how much better the 5k would be. Must be incredible, particularly with high resolution, 20+ mega pixel cameras.

Go for it. It's will be quite the experience.

16 gb. I have the Imac, older model. Wish I had the new model so I could get 32 gb ram.
As for Mac's, I love them. Repairs, if you ever need one, well, thanks to Apple, when a cooling fan quit on my laptop, they replaced it for free, even after warranty. A couple of years later (its a 2007 model), the mother board went, I got an estimate at the shop, which was $400. I agreed. They said it would be back in 3 days, great. On the third day, around 10:00, it was back. I got to the store, the cost was $405, but then the invoice said zero. They gave me a new mother board free of charge even after the warranty period. So, I have a 7 year old Mac, with a 2 year old mother board. My only regret, I would love to have the newest model but this one is still working. Dang it. Oh, and viruses? Whats a virus. Never had one on either of my Macs.

I am not a big fan of using a Photo chat web site for politics. It really is distracting to the primary purpose of the site. There are many other sites where one can view their opinions on things like KL, Immigration etc..

Keep our site "focused" on the topic of Photography please. If this is not possible, then I will unsubcribe and would encourage others who dislike the banter to do the same.
