I'm done with my HP Laptop because it is a Vista and I can't get LR5. I'm going to go with the Adobe deal for $10. I was thinking of getting the Apple laptop which has Intelcore i7,2.0 GHZ, 8 gb ram, 256 flash storage. Is this the right thing to do?!
Thanks in advance.

I don't know if it's the right thing to do, but it is a nice thing to do!

What model specifically? 8 GB is a lot of ram, but 16 GB is much better for Lightroom and Photoshop if you get into editing big or multiple images.

Adobe CC deal is a great deal if you want my opinion, though others may talk about rent vs own....

You want 16GB. The difference is significant.

Should I just go with the 16 GB.That is the decision I have to make. Its $500 more but in the long run will it pay off!
Thanks for your advice.

No. Get the maximum amount of RAM.

Like I said get the maximum RAM.

Also if you buy the Retina display it will ruin you for looking at images on other monitors. When you process images you will have to worry about how the image will degrade when viewed on other monitors. These are the disadvantages of Retina. (That's what happened to me.)

One final thing provided you don't install windows then you won't need any of that virus bloatware dragging down the performance of the computer.

Don't say you weren't warned.

You won't go wrong. I would recommend if you do a lot of post processing that you order your MacBook Pro with additional RAM and purchase an Apple Care policy. If you live near an Apple store you might go by and visit with them. I have 3 MacBook Pros and an iMac. I also have an Asus 17" laptop and a HP desktop. Every time I start using one of the PCs and I start fighting with Windows I go a little nuts. Today is one of those days.

I have to boot Windows now and then on my Mac at work. It takes planning as one has to anticipate about 4-6 hours durning which the computer will be slow and virtually unusable while Windows performs virus scans and updates and updates and updates....

The macbook pro with retina display only comes with 16 GB of memory. You can upgrade the processor and the storage but with retina you get 16 GB - no more, no less.

16 gb. I have the Imac, older model. Wish I had the new model so I could get 32 gb ram.
As for Mac's, I love them. Repairs, if you ever need one, well, thanks to Apple, when a cooling fan quit on my laptop, they replaced it for free, even after warranty. A couple of years later (its a 2007 model), the mother board went, I got an estimate at the shop, which was $400. I agreed. They said it would be back in 3 days, great. On the third day, around 10:00, it was back. I got to the store, the cost was $405, but then the invoice said zero. They gave me a new mother board free of charge even after the warranty period. So, I have a 7 year old Mac, with a 2 year old mother board. My only regret, I would love to have the newest model but this one is still working. Dang it. Oh, and viruses? Whats a virus. Never had one on either of my Macs.
