Purchased a new printer a few months ago, Canon Pixma Pro 100. After discount, rebates, shipping, etc. ended up spending around $150. This included the 8 ink tanks and 50 sheets of 8.5X11 Canon photo paper. Made a total of about 300 prints to date and got to know the printer pretty well. Recently purchased a "sample" pack of Hahnemuhle Fine Art Photo Paper. All paper is designated "Matte/Smooth". Included in the sample pack is Rice Paper, Photo Rag Book & Album, Photo Rag Ultra Smooth, Photo Rag Bright White, Bamboo and Deguerre Canvas. I've never used these types of papers and have no ideas on what kind of printer settings I should use. Does anyone have any tips or advise for me? The included literature was of no help. Thanks in advance.

You must match the ICC profile to the printer paper for best results -- unless of course you later substitute an alternative printer profile.

I don't have the Pixma 100, but I do print with similar but older 9500 Mkii, and Canon's 6400. I use a number of the Hahnemuhle papers in my festival sales inventory. Specifically, I make a lot of prints on their Photo Rag Bright White.

If you haven't already done so, download and install the ICC profiles provided by Hahnemuhle on their website, as Searcher recommended. There will be a data sheet included which generally indicates settings.

When you go to print, the Canon print dialog menu gives you the option for print media. The Bright White takes "Special 9". Their other papers take other, but not intuitive media settings. Their Baryta FB uses "Special 5", and their Pearl takes "Photo Plus Semi-Gloss". That info is usually listed on the
Data sheet that downloads with the paper's profile. There are both email and phone contact info on their ICC Profile page if you need more technical info than the data sheet provides.

I think you will like the results you get on the Hahnemuhle papers. They are really excellent. Unfortunately, they also cost more than many other quality brands.

I have an older Canon Pixma MP 830 and use Ilford Gallerie Paper Lustre 270 GSM and 275 Micron...gives very good results and have had many compliments on my prints.

I found great results with Red River photo paper, even using my Canon MX920.I do have a HP 8700 as well, but only use it for larger prints.
