I have had the same camera for about a year and half. I bought it as a referb. direct form canon. I very much like the camera and have taken a bunch of nice pics with it. It is a little heavy, but i like the way it feels in my hand. It is also rugged as hell, really takes a lot of abuse. I think you will enjoy shooting with it. Have fun with it.
I purchased a Canon 24- 105 L4 EF lens from adorama about a year ago. It works great and I very much like the lens. I purchased for a Canon EOs 7d MKii. that pairs works well together. You might also consider buying new for the likes of Tamron or Sigma and save some bucks that way as well.
Thank you to you all. A lot of great info, gave me some great ideas.
HI All:
i am looking for a photo backpack, that will carry a dslr and maybe two lenses, also a day supply of water and food. i would also like to carry my tripod on it. Do you have any good packs that you are now using that you like?
I have been using the 7d mk2 for about a year. I love it i use it for everything i shoot and it works very well. I got a good deal from Canon, as a refurb. It is a bit heavy, but, it feels good in the hand and is rock solid on a tripod when i'm shooting landscapes. It is a good choice to upgrade to, but the 90d looks very nice as well and a little bit lighter.
I use a Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC macro lens. Very nice lens, light in weight and produces nice sharp pics. It's formatted for crop sensors. Does the job for me. I think it costs about $400.00 new.
I got involved when i was a fire department officer as part of my duties of fire investigation and liked it so much i continued as a hobby after leaving the fire department. I still like it as a hobby and can share some of my life through pictures with friends and family.
I have been shooting with the Canon 7d mk2 for about a year now, and i like it very much. I shoot with the 24-105 f4.0L most of the time and am quite happy with it. I bought mine from Canon as a reefurb and the lens used from Adorama for a good price, and i am quite happy with both.
I use Mpix and have had some very nice results. With very nice prints results and good delivery times.
Give Aluminize.com a try. They produce a very nice print and give fairly quick deliveries.
You should send for their sample pack first to decide which finish you like.
Great quality with a nice choice of mounting systems

You also might want to think about buying used lens from good dealers. You save some money and get quality glass for a little less money. May to the point that you can get both and cover the focal range you discribed.
All very nice. How about sending some of that snow up my way in New England.
I have a lower end Canon for single prints because of cost. I use Mpix for larger prints and larger number of prints, all at a good price point.
Thank you all the great feedback. You have given a lot of good information to work on.
Has anyone moved from Lightroom to On 1 Photo Raw. Is On 1 any better than Lightroom or any regrets. I am looking to simplify my workflow hopefully speed up my work.
