I agree with the OP. Post processing is needed to make your image come alive. Contrast, saturation, color correction etc.

Photo shopping is when you combine images, air brush people to look thinner, remove people etc. Nothing wrong with this but this isn't post processing, this is minipulation.

I am in a area where internet is very expensive. I have Photoshop and would like to know how many GBs do I need to do PP. No video, stills only. Rodeo, landscape, social photos. Have D810 and others, like to shoot RAW if it doesn't affect amount of GBs. Thanks

You need the internet to ping the server at least once a month to check if your subscription is paid and to check for any updates. As for the internet for anything else it depends on if you are saving your work to the cloud. Photoshop itself wouldn't be saving to the cloud unless the original file is saved there by LR CC. If using LR Classic CC the same applies for pinging once a month for subscription check, updates etc. If you are saving to your computer and/or external drives the internet only applies to what I stated.

Thank you for your quick replys! So, with 8000 photos, can you store them all on an iPad???..I am told that LR CC can transfer to Classis CC when I return..but wasn't sure how it works, and what edits hold in the process

Last trip I did was a 16 day transatlantic. I used my iPad Pro with LRCc mobile. You download to your iPad. When connected to WiFi your photos go to the cloud. You have to link LR Classic CC and LR CC. What ever changes you make will be mirror in both. When you get home simply fire up your iMac and LR Classic and wait a few minutes and everything will be downloaded to your iMac.

I may do quick edits, but this is more for seeing the shots and maybe emailing while on my trip. Go and enjoy the trip, experience the places and burn that into your memory.

I bought my D7500 from Best Buy last year at a great price. They price match, if you know the sights that are grey you get a screaming deal. They were up front with the 15% restocking fee. No issue to me, they would need to sell as an open box or send back to Nikon. So it’s fair.

Another note, the camera store I deal with said I did better than he could buy it for.

Try the computer with just the new LG monitor. In LR go to the preferences panels and there is a setting for text size and other things. Check your settings. in Windows go to your monitor settings, you should be able to scale both monitors independently. Try setting the new monitor as your main monitor.

What version of windows are you using?

Hello
What is considered gray market in the U.K. In the states any Nikon not sold by an authorized USA dealer is gray market
Buy a Nikon in Canada gray market. Buy a Nikon in Germany gray market. Buy a Nikon in the U.K. gray market. Are the Nikons in Canada, Germany and the U.K. inferior? That’s what Nikon USA wants us to believe.

That is untrue. Grey market is when a dealer obtains the camera via other Channels other than Nikon USA and then sells it here. In other words they buy a pallet of cameras from the China market and sell them here. You can buy a camera in the EU x
While on vacation and bring it back and Nikon will still honor the warranty in the USA as long as you have the receipt and it was bought from a Nikon authorized dealer.

Call them or email them. That’s what I did to verify if I bought a camera outside the states if it would still be covered. No issue as long as receipt is from a authorized dealer.

Where did you get that little tid-bit from? It was a contributing factor and economists have other what appear to be contributing factors, such as our cute little trade war and tariffs for examples.

No this happens every 3rd Qtr. look at history. It’s the market correcting itself. We went back up today. Relax take a deep breath the world isn’t ending.

Great photo's. I just recently came back from a cruise and found some really nice artwork on buildings in Europe and Iceland.

I recently purchased an iMac computer (my MacBook Pro died). At the same time I purchased the Adobe Lr/PS monthly package. I previously used Lr 5 and PS CS6). All of my photos from here on out are being stored on a 4 TB external drive. There are no photos on my computer's hard drive. (My old photos from Lr 5 were "updated" to work with my subscription Lr CC. So when I open Lr CC, I just select which Lr drive I want to open.) All of my photos from Lr 5 and Lr CC are backed up on another 4 TB hard drive which I am using for Time Machine. Finally, my computer's data and the external hard drives are backed up to the cloud. (I purchased a subscription to Backblaze.)

So to summarize: 1 All photos are maintained on a 4 TB external hard drive. 2. All photos are backed up on 4TB Time Machine. 3. All photos are backed up to the cloud.

Here is my question: Is this backup system sufficient, or should I use another 4TB hard drive to back up my photos (or is this overkill)?

This is the system I am planning to stick with, so it would not be helpful at this point to hear that this is a terrible backup system or that you do it differently. I know everyone has their own system. I just want to know if I am good as is, or if Ishould use another external drive for additional backup.
Thanks.
Steve

Your backup is more than adequate. Your photos and your other files are being backed up redundantly.

When I bought my D7500 last year they told me before I even paid for the camera that there is a 15% restocking fee. They said it was on all camera and lenses. I know there is no restocking fee on any of their other products.

The price at Best Buy my camera shop couldn’t touch and 0% financing to boot.

I was thinking about getting a new Canon M-50 mirrorless to take along with my SLR when I went on vavation. Best Buy sent me a birthday discount so I ordered one online to try to see if I liked it. Well, it seemed to be a good little camera but I couldn't get used to the electronic viewfinder so I returned it after a few days. They told me that there was a 15% restocking fee, $94.00 in this case. I thought they did away with that restocking fee years ago. So, beware buying a camera from Best Buy unless you know you will not have to return it.

RYour systems not slow, it may have a setup issue. First check your settings in LR and see if they at least match your MacBook. You scratch disk allocation my need to be upped. Also run check permissions. If you are using an older external drive setup and saving the files there that may be your issue. USB 2 for instance. The slowest connection is your bottleneck. If you installed extra ram yourself remove those chips and see if you have a difference in performance.

Some large files may slow down the machine. If you do a few large strokes with the paint brush and apply a filter etc it can slow the machine down.

Are you running anything else while doing photo work on the iMac? Like streaming music?

I am a designer so I am always pushing the iMac. Programming PDF files, photo manipulation, inDesign work, illustrator never have an issue except a slowdown from time to time, but that’s to be expected.
