I use the Tamron 28-300 on my 5d4 and am pleased with it for a walk around. However, when I want exceptional IQ I switch to my 24-70 or 70-200L lens.

Oregon has no sales tax so I still would not have to pay any right?

Good points.

It's not so much about a less or lesser camera, but more about tying up a camera for a long period of time. Also, in many time lapse project, the camera is running on manual so it doesn't really matter if it's a 40D or a 5D mk IV. I'd much rather have my 5D mk IV available for every day use than tying it up on a time lapse, unless it's a short term time lapse.

I've seen numbers of 150k for consumer models and 300-400k for pro models. However, I will use my 5d4 and worry about replacing it or the shutter when the time comes. I'm not about to use a less camera to save the shutter.

At least it's everyone. Don't think I'll be moving to a no sales tax state.

As of November 1st B&H will start collecting state taxes for North Carolina. Are they doing the same for other states?

Will miss my 7% savings. But will still be using them for most of my purchases. Closest brick and mortar store (ASAP in Greenville, NC) is over 70 miles and they don't have a great stock.

Personally have too much tied up in glass (Canon) to switch platforms without the new platform providing an earth shattering feature my current platform can't compete with.

I shoot the canon but use the 28-300 as my walking around lens... gets me the shot I want but not the best IQ. I have a 24-70 2.8 that gets super quality shots and a 70-200 2.8 that does the same. BUT, toting both of them around all day is a choir. However, when I know I'm looking to make prints of the photos I'm taking, I lug them around and get the superior images they provide.

Nice shot, especially for all the obstacles.

Where you at, close enough and you can try it out on my Canon... I'm sure others would be willing to help you out if we knew where you lived.
$3... was worth a shot!

I got a Canon EF 35-70mm, f3.5/4.5 lens at a yard sale, cheap. Got it home and everything seemed to work as it should--focus and zoom-- but them I happened to shake it and it sounds like a bunch of beads (bearings?) rattling around. Am I correct in thinking it will fit my waste basket better than a camera? I don't have a Canon to try it on.

First, start with the 200-500 for telephoto shots, that's the best one in your lineup.

All things being equal, your D600 with give you better results than the DX camera - as long as you fill the frame.

However, if you need to crop, the tables turn and the DX camera will give you better results than the cropped full frame camera. See this test:

https://backcountrygallery.com/cropping-full-frame-vs-shooting-a-crop-camera/

So, start with FX, and when the subject is too far and a heavier crop is required, switch to DX.
First, start with the 200-500 for telephoto shots,... (show quote)

Had been debating whether or not to take my 70D along with me this summer on a trip to Alaska - have not had it out of the bag since picking up the 5d4 - but after watching that video, I plan to not only take it... but use it also. Thanks!
