Both are good. Look at your price limit first. If both these meet your price limit, look at which features you want and also which ones you will use. You will find both of these to be more than acceptable.
even though I am a Canon shooter, any of the current DSLR's or Mirrorless are good. The difference is usually the person holding the camera
I have a T1i and like it a lot.
If I were to replace the T1i I'd might go for the 7 as you would have selectable aspect ratios, and I like the shot buffer size.
I'm not sure about the image stabilization difference. Is the 7 in camera as opposed to the lens?

The biggest different between these two cameras is low light capability. The T7i has a max ISO of 25600, the T6i max ISO is 12800. The T7i also has Canon's latest DIGIC 7 image processor. The T7i offers in camera stabilization for video recording. Both are very good cameras. If your budget will allow it, go for the T7i. If budget in an issue, Canon offers Factory Refurbished cameras online at great prices with a full one year warranty.

The T7i has in camera stabilization for video only.

Both excellent, T7i is better.
But both get you into an incredible system with the largest AF system of lenses.

Thanks! I couldn't figure that.

I was going to say about the same thing. I'm a Nikon shooter.. but I always tell people that Canon and Nikon are two sides of the same coin. They both have advantages and disadvantages. It is the photographer that makes the difference... If ALL the camera person is going to do is shoot automatic all the time.. then get a point and shoot. If they are going to take the time to learn PHOTOGRAPHY, then either will do.. I also know that several of the other brands are okay to good.. but the big two are Canon and Nikon. There are others but support may or may not be there when you need it depending on where you are. I do know that if I am in the Alaska bush, Canada, Europe, South America, and most of Africa and Asia, I can get help with Canon and Nikon.... the others may be spotty.
All Cameras Are Good. In my opinion the last "bad" ones were pre-6.1 MP digital or some 35mm film P&S cameras or all 110 cameras. Antique 8x10" View Camera were slow to work with but can take excellent images by a photographer!

Or think about a used Canon 5D mk ii and that is all you will ever need.
How good are you? Evaluate that first and set your sights accordingly. It seems to me that most any digital camera can take "good" pictures when properly used. Most all can take excellent pictures when the photographer is experienced and has a decent amount of artistic vision. Then there's price. "Good" might be around $700, "better" might be around $1500. After that it's anybody's guess.
T7i. It improves significantly over the T6i which was only a tweak or two of improvement over the T5i.
Consider buying the T7i used or refurbished. It has been out long enough to appear on the after-market.
BTW: Let others sneer at the T7i as a beginner's camera. It can produce high-quality images pretty much indistinguishable from a high-end camera. You could earn your living with it along with the right accessories.
If your really need a high-end camera on occasion, then you could rent it.
I own and use the T7i, and I can recommend it.

It is extremely hard to buy a bad camera these days......you really have to work at it...
