That's a great place early morning and late afternoon. If you don't mind a "good" walk, there are often lots of different species on the walk down to the ocean. Also, have you tried Jarvis Park? If you like gators that's a great place especially when they are hungry. They lie under the trees and wait for birds to land. Nic walking trail around the pond.

Southern villages are beautiful. Mejas was a big highlight of our trip. Taxis are donkeys pulling carts. At 4pm every afternoon they are turned loose (no matter where they are in the village) and they run through town to their dinner. Beautiful view of sea below. All of the streets are paved with tiles.

Never seen it this dry but beautiful shot. Back in the 60s as a student at WCU we used to go up there when it was covered with ice and walk behind it. Ice would be a couple of feet thick. We thought it was fun but in retrospect it was extremely dangerous.

Hello. I'm new to the area. I just moved in few months ago and I'm looking for the best scenic locations in South Carolina, Greenville area. Thank you. Jack.

Two more great places for photos are the zoo and gardens in Columbia. Gardens bloom a little earlier than most due to the sandy soil and warmer temps so check the web for best time to visit. Greenville downtown area has some beautiful area with the river and the circular bridge along with the tree lined main street. Also a small zoo.

The Peabody hotel for the duck walk in the morning and Rendezvous for the best ribs in the USA. Lived in that area for ten years and these two are a must if you've never been.

Thanks for the post. Going as soon as I can get away this week. I thought they would be ready in the Blowing Rock area because of the altitude so surprised at the southern mtns already turning that much. There are a few turning here in the Spartanburg area but not many yet.

Wow! Thanks for sharing, James. I always enjoy your posts so keep them coming. Thanks again for your suggestion several years ago to purchase a Sony A65. I still like it as well as I did right out of the box. Left Jackson twenty-two years ago but still have great memories of TN.

There are many falls and streams especially west of Asheville as well as throughout the mountains in the area. Have fun and post some for us all to see.

I had the same result on my third computer. Unfortunately, it has my photo software and 18000 images. I've tried getting MS to help but they say my signin is incorrect and my password is incorrect (although I just changed it for them) and I'm out of luck. My computer boots up to the screensaver and locks up. Nothing works except turning it off and rebooting and then it stops at the same place every time. If you find a solution, please post.

There's a small park on the upper end of the island, Jarvis Park, that has a paved walkway around it. Best time to go for birds and gators is early morning or late afternoon. I've been there when there was wildlife everywhere and at times hardly any. The walking path is close to the water and gators like to sun in the grass between you and the water in hopes that one of the wading birds will get careless. Lots of walkers throughout the day but mostly during lunch breaks. Wildlife is used to people walking so it mostly ignores them. Hope you have a great visit to the island.

Ours has done the same thing here in Greenville, SC. I was shocked when they had all the Sony lenses and cameras displayed along with Nikon and Canon. Guess they have room now that they no longer carry music CDs.
