This morning I purchased this program and used it on only one image as I had other commitments. This particular image I liked except for the noise so which better one to experiment with. I was amazed on two counts, first in how fast it was and secondly in the amazing job it did. My Topaz AI Sharpen is extremely slow but this program was like lightening. Now this is only one image I experimented with so time will tell as I move forward. Also Topaz recommends using Denoise as the first step in your image processing. Enlarge these and see the stunning difference. Now isn't this strange???? The one with the Denoise applied looks purple on my screen until it is downloaded. Thanks to all who have contributed their thoughts here. My “thunk” on this is to sell my D40 and the few Nikon-mount lenses I’ve accumulated over the years (Nikon 50mm f:1.8, Sigma 28-70mm f:2.8, Tamron 80-210mm f1.3.8-1:4, and a Tamron 18-270mm f:3.5-6.3) and move on. Don’t know what I can get for that gear, but whatever would assist toward my budget of $800-1200. Having used Nikon for years doesn’t anchor me to that brand . . . but I do lean in that direction. My desire for my new camera is still hobby, the government has sent me around the world so travel is still a strong desire . . . Maybe I’ll post a few of my photos here to see if there is any appreciation of an old salt’s pics.

For what it's worth, my non-AI 55mm f/1.2 from 1968 seemed sharp enough at the time, and my own testing showed it to be sharper with more contrast than my 50mm f/1.4 up to about f/4. Coma was a known issue with that lens. I even found that it produced upside down, ghost images of bright things like illuminated crosswalk signs in night scenes in NYC. I still have the lens but never had the aperture ring modified, so I can't use it on a modern camera, but I suspect that it would not perform as well as a modern lens. Digital is unforgiving.
