I had both lenses and rarely used the 800mm. I kept going with the rf 100-500 with the 1.4 tc. Works out to 700mm. I started to feel the 800mm was redundant considering the limitations with the f11. Just sold it on eBay. Now if they'll get the R7 going I'll be happy! Also with the R6 and ibis and the is in the lens I no longer lug a tripod around.
I have both lenses, the 800mm obviously has a few shortfalls such as the F11, no tripod collar, although this lens is light enough to handhold. My go to is the 100-500mm, sometimes I add the 1.4 teleconverter. This lens is also light enough to handhold. With the ibis in your camera you should be able to get good results. I think without the TC it will focus faster. When it's sunny and I want more reach I go to the 800mm with good results. Whichever I use I always want more reach, but not at the expense of sharp images that both these lenses can produce.
I would check out the 90D. II had one before switching to the R6. It's a great camera, many functions and over 30 mp. It also fits existing Canon glass you have. Good luck with your decision!
Nice work, wonderful lighting!
If you go to Rhyolite, (worth the trip) you should check out the Titus Canyon trail. About a mile south of Rhyolite on the north side of highway 374 is a turn off for the trail. A high clearance vehicle or 4 x 4 is recommended. Awesome ride, with another small ghost town, pteroglyphs, and amazing views and high canyon walls near the end.
Great place to buy and sell, new or used. They got a lot of bucks from me when I switched to mirrorless!
I guess I was lucky. I ordered direct from Canon U.S.A on July 4th, it shipped four days later.
Great lens, it's made me get out and shoot bugs.
I have that combination and the eye focus on the R6 rocks! My Tamron 150-600 G2 is very sharp even at 600mm.
With the IBIS in the camera I have not used my monopod or tripod for BIF since I got the R6.
You won't be disappointed in this combo!

Hi there my friends.
As a real estate photographer I find that my soft carry bag is beginning to run out of room as I experiment with more and more options for work. I'm just wondering what good transport cases are out there that can be recommended by a satisfied user. Prices seem to vary so much.
Keep safe
SKB has several hard cases (think Pelican) that have liners designed by Think Tank. I have one and love it.
