First, i am in UHH mainly for education. I use my Sony 5n for real estate shots; i feel the 5n is above my understanding in some respects, so you know where i am coming from. From time to time, I nail it, and get awesome photos. My chief shortfall is using my wide angle lens from Sony. It doesn't compare with my former Sony A100 in shooting WA shots. With the wide angle lens attached, I don't see much difference compared to the normal lens 55mm Maybe I need to learn how to use it properly, so any suggestions are welcome. If there is a more effective WAL on the market, i would love to know of it.

Best thing about Mac, is the support I get at the Apple Store. I saw software that runs Windows 7 on the Mac, FYI. Some of your user programsmay have separate versions for Mac. I would ask a rep. at the store to sort this out

I have the Sony NEX, and love the results. I don't miss the weight and size of my former DSLR camera one bit. It is often said in UHH to go to a store and try out whatever you are planning to buy.When you transition to a mirrorless, consider selling off your old lenses and select the new, more compact and excellent lenses that fit the E-Mount. An adapter is available so you can screw on your older lenses, but that is not the way to go, in my opinion. Good luck!

I am late in years myself, and I don't find using my Sony NEX is a problem. Check out the Sony lenses and others with an e-mount; they are reduced in size(not quality) to balance the overall feel and reduce size overall. On the plus side, I love the reduced size, and the quality of photos is stunning.Lots of advanced features in-camera, most will go through a learning curve to use them effectively. Remember, you are learning the most advanced technology out there- worth the time and effort. Only drawback is using the LED screen on sunny days- pitiful! there are products to clip over the LED, probably need to get one. I heartily recommend visiting a good camera outlet and playing with mirrorless cameras to see which appeals to you. Good Hunting!

NOt to add to the confusion, but state-of-the art today means Sony Alpha (also NEX) mirrorless. Go to a store and try one out; the 5 or 5n may fit your budget. Good Luck and welcome to UHH.

Nice to see some UHH folks willing to steer you to Sony NEX (now Alpha). I've had my 5N for a year or so; took some learning to use the many features in the camera. I have
the 50-200 telephoto and the wide angle lenses from Sony;
Have enjoyed shooting homes as a realtor. Go to the local shop and use this camers before you buy; I think you will be impressed.

Very exciting...since we learned your camera may focus beyond infinity, you may get excellent shots of life on another planet...

we took the bullet train from Rome to Florence and returned to Rome later for flight back.I highly recommend the train- unreal vistas all the way. Makes US trains look way behind the times.You will run out of time in Florence- there are so many incredible sights for photography
