People should make their own, really. The big issue is getting hold of 91% rubbing alcohol--harder to do these days. Walmart is where I used to see this commonly.

After that, simply add four parts of this to one part of glycerin or something like aloe vera (as I understand this works well) and mix well. This will not be thick, but will leave behind something to help keep the skin from drying out. It's basically the WHO recipe.

Final concentration would be 72-73% alcohol (72.8% theoretically).

If you happen to get hold of "pure" isopropyl alcohol (97-99%), add an additional half-part water to the above. Same result.

Actually I'm neither... just a plain old chemist who affects both of those disciplines.

I wasn't in it for the $$ anyway. ;-)

I know of no half chickens, except the one which may be on my dinner plate this evening...

So what the heck. Why assume it's a fictitious number (obviously used as an average only)?

The answer should be 12/C, rounded up, where C=#chickens one actually has.

2 chickens would take 6 days, 8 chickens 2 days.

If you're in a real hurry, go to the store assuming you don't already have them in the 'frig....

What's being described is pretty malicious for a "company" to do (Xtra-PC).

Trying another OS using what is commonly called a "live" version (on a stick or CD/DVD) is quite common and harmless to your system. Just be sure you are working with a known, reputable OS distribution.

Those live versions don't touch your hard drive or change anything else abut your computer while in use.

I use darktable for most of my post work. Despite what others label as the drawbacks of freeware, it actually is very good, and there are a number of tutorials out there which I have found useful.

I can't justify the $10/month plans for anything I do.

The concept of 'herd immunity' is largely a fraud, created to push excessive and sometimes harmful vaccinations. Purpose? Drug industry profits.

Actually it's quite sound scientifically. The "sometimes harmful" part is largely trollish FUD (no--no vaccine is absolutely safe, but statistically they are far better than Sars-CoV-2).

We don't know how long it will take to develop a vaccine. The good figures (12-18 months) are averages of past experience, not a hard reality in this case. It might be 3 months, it might be years. It might be that we take a new COVID-19 shot every year. Who knows?

Both I and my loved ones are susceptible. I want my lungs to last the rest of my life at full function. I'm comfortable waiting. My physical well-being is more important.

Wait until someone you really care for dies from COVID-19 after coming back from one of those protests...

B.S. is correct. Hyped hysteria when the common flu is killing many thousands more.

Well, let's see how this pans out. The CDC has their rough numbers up for the current flu season:

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/preliminary-in-season-estimates.htm

Using the averages of the ranges given, it translates to about 47 million cases known this flu season, and 43 thousand deaths. Definitely more deaths in the US than by COVID-19, but ...

Worldwide as of April 12, 1.8 million COVID-19 cases known have caused 112 thousand deaths. Stated differently, one twenty-fifth (1/25) the number of cases has caused close to 4 times the deaths.

In the US (April 12), 532 thousand cases have resulted in over 21 thousand deaths. Another way of reporting this is saying that the flu would have to infect 24 million people to equal what COVID-19 did with just half a million.

While we are way behind on testing (and that's another thread for sure!), there would have to be a **huge** change to bring these two illnesses even close to one another. Oh, and **both** sets of numbers suffer from not knowing about many mild cases. That's not an issue owned solely by the new virus nor is there any data to support specious claims trying to minimize its nature.

Bear in mind that SARS-Cov-2 appears to be *extremely* contagious since there is a significant delay in symptom onset for many.

I know which illness I'd choose to get...

Zoom has worked well for me both at home and work. We have been shown how to lock down a meeting to minimize Zoom bombing. It just works.

I have started to use HouseParty as well with family communications. It also can be locked down easily. Works on most phones, Macs, and Chrome browsers. Its interface is aimed at a younger crowd, and I had to force my way around sharing all my contacts, Facebook sign-ins, etc., but it seems to work well too.

Love the information! Thanks for trying this out.

I have not seen any well documented work on what zaps this virus completely but agree with the 250 degrees/30 minutes bit. That's well beyond reports on other "bugs" out there.

Now that I know my zillions of stashed cash will be safe in the oven, here goes...

UV light does indeed kill the virus, but that is from very large doses using UV instruments, well beyond anything you encounter outside.

So being outside gains you no protection from the sun.

It's apparent that it was staged. The angle of the torso clearly transmits the point of attachment of the rope is further down, causing the torso to lean forward. The head is angled upwards as well.

I would guess that few would have their mouths wide open with their tongue out like that...

Wow. I love a clean, clear sky near sunrise/sunset where you can still get such images without them getting washed out.

Nice!
