I just flew from the Upstate NY to Seattle and back. All my camera gear was in my ThinkTank 26L Bag, which fit into the overhead bin just fine. My greatest fear though, is flying economy, and the plane won't have enough overhead storage, as some people bring ridiculous sizes of carry on bags and sometimes more than are allowed. However, I had no trouble, except in Seattle they wanted any large camera equipment out of the bag (which has never happened before), so I showed him what I had and he just had me put the bag (zipped up) in a separate bin for scanning, then then selected it to be hand checked. It went thru just fine.

We were there a few years ago in October. I got up and did a sunrise shoot along Confederate Way, I believe, which was pretty nice. Then we did a Ghost Tour walk thru downtown that we thought was pretty cool.

I have recently acquired a Canon EOS 5D MIII with 6 lenses from my Landlord. In the lens set are 2 zoom lenses. The one that I keep on the camera at present is a 24-105 mm f4 L IS USM. My question is does the lens always extend when the camera is pointed down? I have 3 Nikon cameras with zoom lenses that do not extend when pointed down. The Canon equipment I got has had several owners I gather and I have no idea of the care the equipment was shown. My instinct is the guess that the answer to my question is that no the lens should not extend when the camera is pointed down. I would like to get a legitimate answer though.

Thank you for reading my text.

I have the EF 24-105 f/4L IS USM, ver 1 & yes, it does do that. Not that big of a deal to me though.

It doesn't matter if it's an image or not. For some reason some PDF's won't print and checking that box has solved the issue and it prints out normally.

Has anyone had any issue with printing a tax return with Turbo Tax? It recommended to save the file with ACROBATDC which I assumed was an upgraded PDF format.
So when I tried printing, the 1st page was so faded it was not legible & the rest were blanks. Tried printed other unrelated documents & got blank pages.
My PIXMA printer has plenty of ink & no maintenance issue. The device manager says no issue with the printer & prints a test page just fine.
The New PDF menu allows for a compatibility check but the options are limited to VISTA & Windows 8 (I'm running 10).
Never had a problem printing PDF files in the past & now I can't print anything.
I'm frustrated & furious - any suggestions?

Sometimes with PDF's you have to check a box, I think it's under Advanced, that says Print as an Image. We have to do that at work sometimes.

I have the older Pixma Pro 10, which does a phenomenal job on prints, IMO. I sell mine at art shows and online and have won some awards for them. Uses a 10 Ink pigment print system and I almost exclusively print on Red River Paper. I'm very happy with mine, but since it is older it has some limitations on pano printing. I think the Pro-300 can print 13" x 39", if I'm not mistaken.

I live near Lake Ontario, about 30 min north of Syracuse & things are just starting to change. I’ve seen some muted reds & oranges mostly around swampy areas so far, but far from peak. Probably another two weeks till we see peak, but that’s just a guess. All depends on the weather.

I have a set of square Blue Frog Filters that work very well for me & wont break the bank. I don’t have any experience with the other brands, but these are made from “Premium German” optical glass. https://bluefrogfilters.com/

If you just want to insure your equipment, then probably a HO rider will work. For me, I show at Art & Craft shows under a DBA, so my HO won't cover liabilty or stuff like that. I have a separate Business Insurance that runs like $135 a quarter thru a local company. Covers me for liability, in case something happens in my booth or a gust of wind caused my booth to damage someone else's property, plus it covers all my equipment, printed photos, printer, computer, etc.

Having taken pictures at my daughter's horse shows (english), shoot wide open, ISO is probably in the 1000-1600 range and shutter speed will be 250 and above. Best thing is to experiment on a few riders you don't know and don't care how the image comes out, that way when someone you know is riding, you'll have your settings down pat. I would shoot manual to, so the camera isn't changing settings on you. All the horse shows we've been to (and that is plenty) if there was a pro there shooting, they used strobes located high in the arena (indoors). So, to shoot without flash, you'll need all the light you can gather. When you are around the arena, at least english, the horses spook pretty easily at movement along the rail or bright colors, so keep that in mind for everyone's safety.
