I'm looking to insure my photographic equipment in a separate policy from my home owners policy. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Any particular reason you wouldn't just have a rider added to your ho policy?
Not the answer you are looking for I am sure. I have numerous lenses, bodies and other assorted gear. Mucho dinero. (obviously) For travel, my insurance is being careful and aware of my surroundings. I also use a Pacsafe Travelsafe for when I want to leave anything behind in my room when not wanting to lug my gear around. (Also works great when at park, beach or other places and I want to go in the water or walk around, lock to tree, lifeguard tower or obvious spot near door or something where in plain sight, no hassles)

If I specifically insured my photo gear, I would then feel obligated to insure all of my bicycles, backpacking, kayaks, yada, yada, yada. Lots of expensive toys. I have a large extensive umbrella policy that covers a lot, but not full replacement. I figure if my house ever burns down, (main worry in my life for potential disasters where I live) in the end, it is just stuff, it was probably time to clean the closet out of accumulated junk and upgrade the stuff that I lost (new bike, new camera, new gear..... GAS problem solved)
Your HO company can provide a "marine" policy or a Personal Articles Floater (PAF) in which you specify each article you want to insure against all losses, no deductible..
good luck
I use State Farm. It offers a personal property policy that is outside my home owners, which is also with them. As mentioned earlier, I provide a detailed list of the equipment I want covered, including serial numbers. Whenever I get a new piece I simply make a copy of my receipt and send it along with a request to add it to my policy. Should I get something on sale, I provide the regular price and request it be covered for replacement cost. No deductible and provides what I call "idiot's coverage in the event *I* do something stupid. Very easy and fair price. I do periodically go in and change the coverage amount of pieces as the price comes down.
My home owner’s policy (Liberty) has a rider on my home and my gear. I think it’s much cheaper because my home insurance covers loss or damage in home and during travel. You could by separate insurance that may cost significantly more.
Unless you have a lot of money ro burn, use your Home Owners policy. You didn't give any reasons why you didn't want to use it. Simple rider to existing policy and covered for theft, damage, loss of any kind.

I have a separate insurance policy on my equipment through my insurance company.
They have a list of equipment listed by date of purchase, serial number, and current value. I insure for replacement, for example, say I bought a lens for $1000.00 but it sold new for $1500.00 but now the current value is $1600.00, I insure the lenses and bodies for replacement cost. My insurance company also has the original sales slip with the serial number listed as proof of purchase.
I use AllState.
State Farm personal property insurance. They replace full value .

Personal item policy, State Farm or your homeowners if they have something equivalent.

I am no insurance expert by any means. But I think it is a lot cheaper for same coverage as a rider on your home insurance.

Same here…. My premium is about $16/yr/$1000 of coverage.
PPA membership includes insurance in membership, with additional amounts available.
I have State Farm and use their personal property policy. Cost effective if you’re not a pro. Repair or replace, no deductible, no depreciation.

I am sure we are so happy you have a lot of money. A lot of the rest of us aren’t so well off and find it less expensive to insure our camera equipment, laptops, etc., than just going out & buying new equipment.
