If fall colors are peaking take I-70 over Vail pass into the Vail area. Colors are outstanding on the south side of I-70 in Vail. Take a ride up the north side into the subdivisions, find a spot to view across the valley and stand in awe of the colors.
In Breckinridge head up Ski Hill Road to the viewing area, a wide spot at a horseshoe curve, and get a Birdseye view of the city. Plenty of in town photo ops of the buildings and people. A fun place with a camera.
All the other suggestions are spot on. Have a great time looking and photographing,

Welcome to UHH! I saw that you’re living in Lunenburg, NS. My wife and I toured the Maritimes in 2018 and enjoyed Lunenburg so much we returned there at the conclusion of our tour and before we ventured on to Digby and Brierisland for scallops and whale watching.
We walked several blocks really enjoying photographing the Lunenburg Academy and your two beautiful churches. We also drove around the bay to capture Lunenburg’s bay front from the other side. It was almost too foggy to capture enough to create a meaningful panorama, but anytime I’m taking photos is a slice of heaven whether successful or not!
Walking and photographing in your city was a real pleasure for us. Foods great also!

PSG music library is accessed via internet therefore not a stand-alone part of the program. That means on January 31 it’s gone no longer accessible!

I’ve also been using PSG plus have used their music library almost exclusively in all my shows. The loss of the ability to access their music after January 31 and not having it available from Photopia is extremely unfortunate. I understand licensing, but nonetheless to me a great deterrent to signing up for Photopia!
If anyone knows of a program that has a similar music library or a way to get ahold of Photodex music library please let me know!

In your response to the ask for walk around lenses you mentioned you have a Tamron 18-400mm that has some quirky issues. I also have this lens. What issues are you having? I haven’t noticed any issues, but I’d like to know what may occur or I’m missing.

I would love to find a good program to create fairly sophisticated slide shows with music. That being said, I would love for it to be fairly simple to use! I am really asking for a lot, I know. Any suggestions?

ProShow Gold is a great program. I’ve used it several times to make interesting slideshows. To see a trial of what it is capable of doing google ProShow Gold. The program contains many fine pieces of music of various lengths, sound effects, voice over narration capability, many transitions and works with Lightroom. For the price of $70 it’s worth the money.

I plan on visiting the Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia, and if we have time PEI. I only have a week. We were thinking of staying at different hotels each night so we can see as much of the island as possible.

Any recommendations on places to stay? Also looking for the most scenic areas for photos.

We will be visiting the first weekend in August.

Thank you.

If you send me your email address I’ll give you some information about New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia. We were there last year for nearly 3weeks. Too much info to relate on this site. s3secarne@yahoo.com. Sam

I've owned the Tamron 18-400 for a year. It was the only lens I traveled with to the Canadian Maritimes, Acadia NP and Vermont last fall.

I own several prime lens, other telephoto lens, close up lens, wide angle lens and a Tamron 150-600. After doing quite a bit of testing before traveling to the Maritimes the decision to only carry this one lens was an easy one. It is a little heavier than some other telephoto lens, but is a fast focus and allows a great range of in focus shots.

For four weeks, traveling by car, bus and ferry for well over 6,000 miles this lens on a Nikon D500 did everything I asked. When traveling that much fooling with changing lens, etc is not a good option. I counted on this lens a great deal. This was the first time traveling with only one lens.

I am not a pro photographer in any sense of the word, but having the quality, range and comparatively light weight for a lens of this range all I had to do was concentrate on composition, lighting and story telling of our trip. No lens juggling and missing shots I would have liked to have had. With this lens I got the shots I wanted.
This lens has relegated almost all my other lens to the bench, on a day to day basis, except for those special occasions. If in doubt do rent one and put it through it's paces. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks again, Sunnely. I ordered a little while ago and still waiting for a registration key. I've had registration keys with other software and it is a bear if you can't locate the key when needed. Should take a photo and keep it in my photo files!
As an aside I've been in Wisconsin several times. The last time was 2-3 years ago on a photography program sponsored by UW Stevens Point at their nature preserve in Treehaven. 2 weeks of great photography all around the area and Michigan UP shooting waterfalls. Beautiful state.
Thanks for helping. Sam

What a terrific response! Thanks for all your information. PSG sure looks like a fun way to create slideshows! Based on all this information I'm ready to pop for the software.
I made a couple of shows in the trial version and was very impressed with what this program has to offer.
I was questioning whether or not all PSG said on their website was actually included in the program. I read somewhere you had to buy something extra to actually do all they said you are able to do. Evidently that was either old information or not accurate.
Thanks again. Sam

Noticed a few days ago comments about Pro Show Gold. I downloaded their trial version to see what it is about and found it to be a program that would be fun to use. However, I also was unable to use a few features such as soundtrack and copying captions to other slides.
My question is whether the full purchase version for $70 Includes those features plus all that ProShow Golds website lists or do you have to purchase additional software to have what they tout? I understand they sell packs for expanding your choices.
I welcome any comments pro or con on ProShow Gold. I have created many dvd’s On PS Elements so I am familiar with creating slideshows, just looking for more creative software on the amateur side of the fence.

I agree with “old johnnie” Darrell Young’s “Mastering theD500” is excellent in its step by step tour through the D500. It travels with me all the time. The D500 has so many fine features it is easy to forget how to use them all. Steve Perry’s tips is a great follow up once you are familiar with the camera.
