I just shot 2 rolls of film last week. I heard people even still do oil paintings in this digital age!

Using the latest greatest gear with the most over the top specs is in itself a hobby goal for some - and not just in photography. Just remember a skilled automobile driver (who actually enjoys the experience of driving) doesn't need ABS, power steering or automatic transmission.

Your needs should determine the technology used - are you a pro sports photographer or maybe selling fine art prints? - it's a balance between creative hands on decisions and running autopilot to achieve the goal at hand.

I have been happy with "street shots" taken on my PEN-F with the 9mm body cap lens, 14mm 2.5, 20mm 1.8 and 40-150 zoom. When I want to feel like a "serious street photographer" I bring out my Canonet or 7S II loaded with HP5 plus. Both of those lenses are a fast 40mm.

Memory is cheap so shooting both JPG and RAW isn't a problem. That said, I absolutely HATE post processing and found a little bit of heaven when I got my PEN-F. In-camera processing makes some stunning jpegs and 99% of the time I wouldn't bother doing anything to them. ¿Porque no los dos?

My most popular "art" photo was taken with a 12 megapixel Kodak P&S. I actually have a 16x20 canvas print on my wall. Don't fall down the gear/megapixel/specs rabbit hole. The TG-5 or 6 will serve admirably well, unless you're shooting sports or making billboards. Don't forget the JJC twist open lens cap, it's very cheap and convenient as hell.

I think travel photography screams for MFT. I now carry my gear when I wouldn't during my Canon days. Once you sling over your shoulder half the size and weight while retaining quality, you can't turn back. Just a thought.

An old Kodak digital P&S was one of my "Pro" cameras because there is one image of a flamingo from it that has sold more prints than anything else I ever did. My focus has never been selling prints, but if we're defining "professional" then maybe it's relevant. No, I would never rely on that as my only camera, but it did take at least one "pro" photo! Most photographers, even the "serious" or "professional" kind, do not need the latest marketing gadgets or best possible resolution. I've always worked with what I had and did just fine with weddings, events, portraits and products. I don't miss the Kodak, but sometimes I still long for my old RB67. I guess my interest isn't in the gear as much as the resulting captures, though I do admire the technology for it's own sake. I used to have some fancy audio gear that could reproduce sounds beyond the range of human hearing, now what was the point of that? ;) ?

TG-5 or 6 will do an amazing job for you. Be sure to get one of these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/174260364743?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=174260364743&targetid=1068323852830&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=1015206&poi=&campaignid=12590223046&mkgroupid=121185197433&rlsatarget=pla-1068323852830&abcId=9300523&merchantid=101652106&gclid=Cj0KCQjwse-DBhC7ARIsAI8YcWIuYCBo-B4MKqDw28rrVsCTpgM0iXsLqRlRb6CUglsNUf85L-KKAkQaAjkYEALw_wcB

Life began anew with my purchase of the PEN F. Before retiring I had photographed professionally; portraits, weddings, event and products, all with about 60 pounds of Canon gear and the occasional medium format. Life would have been so much easier (and cheaper) had MFT been available then! If I were shooting to make billboards I would use a larger format, but I can see no other reason to insist on so called full frame or old style mirrored bodies other than snobbery. Olympus is not disappearing and their gear is up to the task of almost anything a photographer might ask of a system. I also have a couple of very sweet Panasonic lenses. Results with my MFT gear equals anything I've done before, and it's so much easier to do.

Myakka River State Park is a major destination for birding during nesting season. I've also captured boar, deer and gators. The canopy and birdwalk are excellent.

We have cars but some people still enjoy riding a horse. We have cameras but some people still enjoy painting a picture. Digital photography seems to keep trying to emulate the "film look." For that film look, I just use film!

Another vote for Wasabi batteries. Over the years and through various cameras they beat OEM every time in every way. A $300 gym shoe that says "Nike" on it is still just a $50 gym shoe.

Meh. Whoever happens to be in the office will do the bidding of business interests, so what's the difference? It's an illusion that we have two parties and that candidates somehow differ from each other once in office. Only the pre-election rhetoric differs. Politicians don't care about people, that much should be obvious by now.

I was sitting outside at a Sonic "restaurant" and was taking some pics. There were some workmen eating lunch at a table at the other end of the patio. The 12 year old pimple faced "manager" came outside and told me to stop photographing the place. I just left. Don't know if my food ever arrived. Yeah, it's a private property I don't have to go to anymore. Ironically, the owner of a real restaurant across the street is thrilled that I take pictures of his place and the food.
