I have been using Panasonic cameras for a few years now (Switched from Canon dSLR).
They use the same Micro 4/3's lenses and sensor size as the Olympus.
Some things I love about my Panasonic are
- lenses are very light weight compared to SLR (my favorite is a Leica 50-200mm which is like a 100-400 on a full frame
- Some bodies are a lot more light weight like my GX8 but my main camera (G9) is more like an SLR body -- though still lighter than a Canon 7D
- The image stabilization is really good (on camera and on lens), I can take a photo in a dark setting at ~200mm at 1/10" and it is still quite usable (sunset roof pic below)
- Autofocus on my Panasonic is decent (it has animal eye focus and other modes found on most modern cameras)
- I like silent shutter mode, especially for street photography
- Video quality and features are excellent and nearly pro level features in terms of color grading and bit depth etc
- I can do a kind of focus stacking in camera where it takes a photo in all focal ranges and combines then I can pick the focal point on the touch screen (it is hit or miss though for some uses like windy day)
- I find the menus and creative options like multi-exposure, in-camera black in white etc to be more enjoyable to experiment with than my old cameras
I think Olympus is probably comparable to that experience, and the lenses are interchangeable between Olympus and Panasonic. I would recommend going to a store or trying some out to see if you like the feel.
You might also look at the Fuji line as well which a lot of people really love for a non full-frame mirrorless camera.
Some pics I've taken recently with the G9
