Take a look at the ASUS Transformer 101 about $200- 300...has a full SD card slot with their little keyboard also has USB...the tablet itself only has a micro sd slot.
Very curious about this one or the new version. It might fit the bill. Do you have personal experience with it?

I did wonder about that when typing, my apologies for assuming wrong.
All is good. I thought it was pretty funny

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and suggestions. It looks like I'll be looking at a few laptops. Weight isn't that much of an issue as it will be kept in the car. My shooting is mostly static, with the exception of the wildlife that I often run across. I travel the back roads (some roads require a little imagination) of Central and Eastern Oregon photographing old homesteads. When you're on a road that only goes forward, it's hard or sometimes impossible to turn around and go back and shoot a scene again. This often takes me well out of range for any wifi connections so while my camera is equipped with wifi and I have a link on my iphone that works well when I am in "civilization" but out in the bush I cannot bring up a hotspot connection to download from the camera. The adapter from SD to mini sounds interesting though and I'll look into that a bit more as well before I commit to a laptop. I'm leaving in a couple of hours to photograph in the old gold fields of Eastern Oregon. This time looking for remnants out in the middle of nowhere of some old horse breeding operations from the 1870's where blue blooded trotting race horses were raised and raced. Something a little different, even for me. Oh and on a side note...he is a she. Shooting for about 50 years now. ;)
If you go for a computer I suggest you look at a Lenovo X1 Carbon. All SSD, lightweight. Very, very capable. I download/review all pics every night through it to two identical WD hard drives Sounds great but I can't afford to put a $1,000 in from of the $350...;)
I would like to know what others in my situation use. Most the of my photography work is done in remote areas (well beyond phone access) that are not easy to get back to if I need to reshoot. I would like to purchase a tablet(?) with at least a 7"-9" screen, that I can put my full sized SD card in and check my images while I am on site. I shoot raw files so I need something that has the memory to handle large files. I would like to keep the budget under $350 if at all possible. Is there something out there you might recommend.
I currently have the 14-45 and the 45-200 and hope to pick up the 100-300 soon. I do a lot of work around show horses and it's so nice to have camera and both lenses in what is not much bigger than a fanny pack attached as a belt on my waist. I can stuff the camera away at a moments notice and have both hands free to work with the horse and not set it down. Love the lenses! Not sure where Leica's influence is within the partnership but it was a great marriage. Here is a link to a contest I am currently in. All taken with the G1. The picture 'Waiting for the Sun' has placed very high in international equine contests. The lighting is all natural and all I had to do is blur a little bit of writing on the wall in the background near his head.http://iframe.wizehive.com/voting/search/doversaddleryphotocontest-2012?key=352497afc9a63870672f8ebb14dc6d7e08b0622e&q=theresa+peterson&p=1&fields=8fb58e5c7d8083ce155cb6b8380a04d9cda9aebe%3Ap
And Please Vote too!
I purchased my Lumix G1 (Camera of the Year) in 2009 when they first introduced the 4/3 format and absolutely love it to this day. After YEARS of lunging around heavy equipment it has been such a blessing on my back and I didn't have to sacrifice features or quality. I now have my eye on the new DMC-GH3 as my next camera with.

Really like picture number 2 of the multiple head shots! Had to laugh at the third picture. I know exactly where it was taken. Had that same stall last month for the Oregon Morgan Classic show..lol.
Spent the spring and summer months photographing horses for myself and friends. All these beauties are Morgans!
Spent the afternoon at the farm. Beautiful weather and happy horses on fresh grass.

Sort of along the line of Wonder's of Mother Nature, I'd like to introduce the source of my future photo op's. This is Bonnie, my daughter's mare (my daughter took the top picture of her yesterday). Bonnie is very pregnant and is due the first week in June. Can't wait to take baby pictures!
Just a few more days to go!
