After playing with it for a few hours its very similar to Luminar 4. There are some new features, but overall is just a Luminar 4 upgrade. Maybe I'll discover more in the days ahead.

There are many really cool features that you can add and download--FOR A FEE. It looks like the really cool stuff is going to cost you extra. It irks me that they have held the good stuff back and offer it only for add'l costs.

I wouldn't be surprised if Luminar 4 is discontinued in place of AI.
Is it worth the price, hmmm, not so sure, but then again, if they as many of us believe, discontinue L 4, then you'll have to upgrade anyways. A lot of advertising hype for very little in return.

These are my initial thoughts. I hope to discover reasons for me to have coughed up 79 bucks.

I rereceived an email telling me my download was ready. (I was one of the early purchasers)
I was excited to download and install Luminar AI. The download went smoothly and finished. The new icon was on the desktop. I clicked it and ... NOTHING! Went to Photoshop and it was there as a plugin. I clicked on that and... NOTHING! I thoroughly uninstalled it - including registry entries, rebooted and reinstalled it. Again, the install went very smoothly but alas, the results were the same. I put a support ticket into Skylum and got a robot reply that they usually answer in 24 hours but do to circumstances, it may be 7 days or more.

To everyone interested in the new Luminar AI Program...

A few days ago, I posted that one of the 'Beta Testers', for Luminar AI, Anthony Morganti, had announced that the software would be finally released on Dec 15th...

Two days ago, another 'Hogger' discovered that the 'Download Link' on his Skylum account for the Luminar AI was working and they put up a post to that effect...

Yes, I went and also downloaded the link, then installed the software, and I also registered the software when the application did prompt me to do so...... thinking I would have a working copy... WELL... I don't Know ????

After playing with it for a while, I came to the 'Menu System' in the upper left corner, and... It does NOT work... Try as I may, I click on the first icon, then the first menu level does appear BUT, it will NOT let me 'click' on or choose any of the first 4 or 5-second level menu items... What the HECK... ha ha ha

Yes, I have sent a message to Skylum Tech Support and am waiting for their response...

It was originally a Mac only software company, so PC users have their own set of problems with Luminar. It works for some, and not others.

This particular problem is from their attempt to fix an issue which was related to the Mac OS Big Sur release. It looks like their developers did not actually test their product against the pre-release versions of the OS.

The company was originally called Macphun, and they released some really good photo editing software. When they started developing for Windows a few years ago they renamed themselves Skylum and the software has not been quite as stable and they haven't kept up with promised features and updates.

That said, I really like their software, it works well and I have never really had any major issues with it.
