Haven't touched alcohol in 27+ years, and your gorgeous shots make me wonder... (not really)

Haha, I'm with you! It'll be 30 for me this year...

Your parents should hire a professional. Wedding photography takes experience. You could still shoot candids therby adding anything to the pros images.

...I *think* it was a Kodak, it was a box and pretty much kid-proof. I recall having a great time with it at church camp in Julian, CA and I know I got some "keepers" lol...

Look to Epson, Depending on the print size, you might be able to get a good deal. I have the SureColor P800, which produces up to 17x22" prints. Excellent quality and I don't use it every day, so it stays unclogged. You probably won't want a printer that size. Check out open box specials at Adorama and B&H.

I have two Epsons (a P800 and an R3000 I've had many years and still cranking). I use 17x25" paper for my P800 to get 16x24 prints, but, given roll media, can print pretty long panos if desired. I'd say to the OP, no matter what brand you choose, spend some money so you can *really* appreciate your hard work!

Organizational...and *speed!" I'm one of those with large numbers of shots on occasion, I *must* have something like LR with its batch capabilities or I'd never get done. That said, I use PS extensively also, and ACR too, although infrequently. Catalogueing is also a heavy asset. On 1, Luminar and DXO are also there as plugins in PS, along with other softwares. <shrug> I'm just used to it.

18x24 is actually a very large size and I wouldn't resize an image even from a 45MP camera to make that.

...I save at 24x16 often, and print from those jpeg saves. Alot of the time these saves are crops and resized. <shrug> So, what's the big deal?

Spoken like one who has definitely drunk the koolaid...saying that anyone using a DSLR is 99% dependent on luck to get a good image is simply delusional. While mirrorless are better in some settings...the DSLR is better in other settings...and gear is far behind user skill, technique, and even location in getting good photos.

When I shoot my pageantry (sports) I flip between horizontal and vertical alot, and with my *really* expensive 200-400 f4 it is not an issue...glass smooth. Well, as soon as I got my 200-500, the first time I tried to flip...well...it was clunky and just plain bad. I replaced with an RRS and the problem was lessened 90% and I'm OK with it now. <shrug> for my circumstances it was a necessity to upgrade, YMMV.
