I intend to do something similar. I have had some health issues and I'm still dealing with my income tax. I hired someone to do my taxes and will hire someone to install the antenna and run the cables. I have reached the age (81) where I hire people to avoid aggravation. Up until now I did everything myself, no more. It's time to start spending some of the money I have been saving.

...if I read you rightly, you're depending on your phone for internet? Spend some of that dough for a good desktop 'puter with a good monitor (better two) and pay the cable company for your internet. That way you'll get some speed and be able to "move around" with some alacrity. I can't imagine what a pain it would be to use my phone connection for the stuff I do...

I use both. DeNoise is part of my standard work flow and Sharpen AI has saved more than one of my iffy photos.

I second.

...the 200-500 works like a champ with my Z50. I'm hoping Nikon will come out with an upgraded "50" but, still, I'm pretty amazed at that little thing...

I agree that you can't go from JPEG to CR2 you but might want to try this from Topaz Labs: JPEG to RAW AI https://topazlabs.com/jpeg-to-raw-ai/

I've tried this (Topaz JPEG to RAW) and found that, yes, you have more than when you had the jpeg!

Replaced mine with Z6. Wish I’d kept it.

...I kept mine until I got a Z7. No regrets as I get more resolution and I like the Z setup, especially the EVF, but that D800 was/is a fine camera.

ROTFLMFAO !!!!!

That is dead wrong. You don’t get it. Full frame ? That has no effect on it. You’re shouting “BUNK” from a base of ignorant bunk of your own.

Ron is quite correct about high MP being finicky. Apparently you are just way too sloppy to notice it. I set my 50MP body aside for specific uses while choosing 20MP for routine use.

I don't have any problems getting sharp images with my Z7 which is a 45 MP sensor. <shrug> Is it an age thing? I'm old too!

Some of us do not have anywhere we display all our photos in one place. eg flickr etc
I found a great and easy way to put all my photos in one place is right here at UHH with "User Pages!"

If I ever wish to direct someone to see a number of my images, I can just link them to this one simple page:

https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/user-page?upnum=3025

You can put this link in your signature so it appears on all your posts as I have done.
You can easily add any image you have uploaded to UHH to your user page.
This allows you to create a portfolio from any images you have on UHH.

Here are full instructions how anyone can do this:

1. Go to "My Profile" top of the page
2. Under "Account Settings" you will see "My Pages"
3. Add a title for your page. eg My Photography, My Portfolio etc etc
4. To add an image, find one you have uploaded on the forum
5. Right click your image and select "Copy Image Location"
6. Right click an empty area on your user page and select "Paste"

You will have an address something like this:
https://static.uglyhedgehog.com/upload/2021/4/4/t1-687000-test.jpg

7. Now you just need to add a little extra text so the text displays as a photo and not a link as mine has above.

To the front of the address you pasted on your user page, add [img*] WITHOUT the asterisk.
I have to add the asterisk here in the examples or things won't display properly.
Just follow my steps but do not include any of the asterisks anywhere and it will all work.

At the end of the address you pasted you add [/img*]

In my example address above, the beginning will look like this:

[img*]https://stat.....

The end of the address will look like this:

....87000-test.jpg[/img*]

8. Save your user page.

You are done!

If you would like to add text to display as bold as I have done on my page, just add [b*] in front of the text and [/b*] at the end. Again, do not add the asterisk.

Add your page to your forum signature if you wish!

If you require any further help post here.

These user pages are really handy! We should be making use of them as you can add anything you like here and create interest for those who visit your pages.

I appreciate the time and effort that you spent putting this demonstration together. For me, however, it simply endorses what an incredible waste of time this stupid argument remains. I have been doing photography since 1962. My photographs have been used to document events, support academic research, illustrate industrial training materials, respond to environmental enforcement actions, capture memories, and a host of other purposes. I have never taken a single photograph where the difference between these two photographs would have made any difference to any of the people who viewed any photograph that I have ever made, including me.

Haha, my comment references Larry's post on page three of this seemingly endless bash-fest...I went to page 15 to proof what I wrote (something I highly recommend to many of our UHHer's). I think I will exit the thread now, 12 pages unread, with my emotions intact!

I've always done Topaz updates with LR and PS shut down...well, since the last time I had one of them running and it told me to back out and close them. <shrug>

Thank so much , tomorrow I’check MPB together some of 810

I've always gravitated to the Dx line, but also always had a backup that had some beef pixel-wise. Until I got my Z7 it was a D800...and that camera is/was a stud. You won't go wrong with the 810...

Although there is a protective coating over the sensor itself, I prefer not dry-brushing it.

Jerry have you seen one of those brushes up close? *Really* super fine "hairs"...I have one for my FF bodies and one for my crop sensors. I think a great intermediate step between blowing and scrubbing (heh)...

For many of us, once we realized that we don't use nor want to use, 90% of what PhotoShop provides, the subscription makes no sense. The number of people who post less than acceptable images, yet are Adobe crusader, proves that the subscription service is a waste of money. Although, Adobe thanks you for your loyalty. Spending $$$ on Adobe stock may be a better use of your hard earned $$$.

For those who really take advantage of the features, it is a bargain!

Too many people believe that updated software will make them better photographers.

I lack the wisdom/monitoring capabilities/prescience to make proclamations about "Too many people..." BUT, what you say about "...those who really take advantage of the features" is, in my case, true, and I'll never stop learning. <shrug>

As a wildlife photographer, I can't even begin to imagine how many shots I would have missed without bbf. I am one too that changed to bbf many years ago and have not looked back. With thumb on the bbf button and finger on the shutter...continuous focusing and clicking. I personally recommend it.

I'm with you. I think the technique originated with sports shooters (just guessing here). I got into sports shooting early and haven't changed my focusing methods since. Yes, sometimes I use different ways of getting what I want, even manual focus...but if the camera is *not* in "manual," focus for me is initiated with the back button. <shrug> YMMV
