Topaz Sharpen A.I - update warning...

This morning I decided to use Sharpen A.I (v 3.0.0) to edit an image from inside Lightroom (Classic) v 10.1.1 on a 27" iMac running Catalina 10.15.7.

When I invoked Topaz A.I. a dialog box popped up inviting me to download the update to 3.0.2 - and I clicked Yes. A progress bar appeared and filled quickly, but then - nothing. After a while i checked the Force Quit function in OSX and it showed Classic was not responding, so I forced it to quit. But still the Topasz Sharpen A.I screen was left up, and while I could select Quit from the File menu there nothing happened - so even though it did not appear as 'not responding' in the Firce Quit window I killed it anyway.

I then opened the standalone Sharpen program, and got the same invite to upgrade - and that time it did work.

The point is - at least this time around, don't try to do the Sharpen update from within Lightroom.

I've always done Topaz updates with LR and PS shut down...well, since the last time I had one of them running and it told me to back out and close them. <shrug>

Of the update process?

Oh, you might mean of the software...well, I only stated to use it but this is the finch on which I was working...

....

Well, I take that back...seems the Browse button function is DOA - clicking it does not pop up a browsing window (or indeed, anything at all) - I guess the site is having a brain fart at the moment...

I have had issues in the past downloading Topaz updates. I lost the previous version of Adjust AI and I figure that because of the pandemic I never heard from Topaz.
Today I am using the old versions of Adjust and Denoise and I am not missing anything new with AI.

I discovered yesterday that the problem I was having doing the upload process evidently had to do with my using Firefox as my browser now - so using CHrome for UHH resolves the issue. I already uploaded these examples in another thread, but since you asked here is an image before and after using Sharpen

.

Mark - you may want to try the latest release of Denoise AI (trial version). I also have the non-AI Denoise, and find the AI version pretty awesome. I use it on almost every image.

Hope all is well.
