I just don't find anything compelling about this image. It's my opinion that the best street style people shots are capturing a moment or a feeling. I have the feeling that you instructed this girl to walk through the area with an umbrella. Why? The sidewalks are dry, so why would she be carrying an umbrella? It's also bright cloudy which is a weather condition that doesn't usually produce rain. The foliage is nice, but there is lots of nice city foliage. The pink umbrella catches the eye, but there is not a story there. Go to this spot on a rainy day and camp out with your camera. You're sure to see a moment. Whether or not you're quick enough to capture it is another thing. Also .. be closer to your subject if you do this. Interaction with photographer often produces a pleasing result.
Yes, I would like to see inside. I think even light would be better and I liked the idea of an HDR shot for this. I'm sure it wouldn't have been easy to do that since other people are probably milling about.
Well first of all it makes me hungry and that proves that the photo is appetizing. That is probably the most important criteria when photographing food. The lighting is even and gorgeous. Nice detail .. I feel like I'm there .. heck .. I wish I was there. The only thing I would like to play with is the crop. I might like to try a square crop with the left side of the frame covering a little more of the plate. Bring that mint right into the corner and then a little more room at the top to include more of the bowl. That's purely subjective though. My view of it might be a little more symmetrical. But that's just me.
I like! Somebody was standing there .. makes me wonder. It's cool that you noticed and photographed it. That's what photographers do.
I think it would be better if the subjects were not merging and if the planes were not cut off at the edge. If you are going to crop .. commit.
The arrangement of the tea set is very engaging. I like. The W/B adjustment did wonders. The image could be improved if the shadows could be avoided. The set is very detailed and it's a shame to have shadow lines competing with the patterns in the china. One thing I have learned is that when you have a uniform background like this, it's very easy to select it in photoshop and make it any color you like. It would be fun to see this on different color backgrounds .. light gray .. black ... Red?

Thanks for your thoughts, Dave. I think they reflect your scientific background more than your inner artist. I was looking for a compositionally pleasing layout rather than one reflective of the chaotic reality of a gannet colony. (Image for illustration purposes only. Not intended for critique)
But .. there's a shot here too. I've seen them. I think just waiting until you get a couple of them doing something that grabs the eye.
Cropping is a hard decision to make. Personally I liked the tight crop because of the wonderful detail you have captured. After seeing the original, my opinion remains the same. The background in this instance does not add to the subject. It distracts. Perhaps a little more room, but honestly it's so much fun to see these gorgeous birds up close. Nice shot with adequate DOF.
RG is right unless you really think about it. I think I would put it on the wall behind and give it the proper perspective with the warp/blend in Photoshop.
I have created a five page website. It's taken me over a year and I'm still having some technical issues, so I have it in "coming soon" mode. I would open it up for 24 hours if anyone wants to take a look. It would be great to get some feedback from people who are objective. If someone responds I will leave a link and open it.
Makes me want to walk up to it and look inside.
It's quite a burden. It would be fascinating to see what's in those eyes. I wonder if the man behind him is looking at him or you.

I'm trying to decide if the subject is the crucifix or the bells in the tower. If the intent was to show the interesting lighting on the crucifix it would have been better to shoot it alone and not include the bells. Same if the bells were to be the main subject. I like the lighting and the dramatic sky. The angle from which it shot confuses the eye. It also looks as if the tower is about to fall over to the left. A little straightening would help.
Good thoughts to be considered.
