We are trying to choose a new logo for our business. We have a company creating logos for us and these are a couple that we liked. I'd love to have some feedback on which one a general audience likes. If there are any suggestions as to how to make one of these better, I am open to that as well. Thanks so much in advance for you input.
A little background as to your business will be helpful.
I'm partial to the second one based sold on looks. However, more info on the company would help.

Screen printing, embroidery and a small retail store.

So is everything printed flat? Or is there some 3D aspect to the logos?

They are both well done, however, neither one of them tells me what your business is?
Wow. That swoosh version is killed by the black bkgd. And Lake is screaming for a blue of some kind.
I think you can do better then this. Try some more options that make sense. Good luck logos are not easy.

I do not get the connection between both logos and your printing business?? the top one looks like a sports club logo. not sure what sport. I do get the nike logo. You will need some text to go with the logo to explain exactly what your business is all about.
I agree with Tom. I see NO connection between your business and your logo.
#1 - are you sure Nike won't come a'calling?
The name "Locker" and a Nike swoosh = sportswear and sports equipment.
#2 - What is the origin of your business name (I see you wrote what it does, but I'm asking about the two words specifically: Laker and Locker)? Just because "Laker" is in the name doesn't mean you should reference blue water...unless related to recreation, vacation. Far too obvious and unimaginative.
I'd hire a new logo-creation company. These miss the mark by a wide margin.
I see a connection to Nike thought...

I would have guessed you were a sporting goods company.
The blue one was done by a company that we have hired. The other one is one that my husband did at a open logo creator place. Our retail sells Laker Fan Wear. Lakers is our High School sports name. We do a good part of our screen printing and embroidery business with the high school, but we also do a fair amount of contract printing for businesses, clubs and lots of resorts in the summer. The company that is working for us only gets paid if they create something we like. There are many graphic artists working on this and submitting logos to us.

Everything is printed flat. We haven't done puff printing in years.

The second logo is clean and doesn't seem to have conflicts as others have suggested. The first doesn't really stand out visually, the color choices are muted, but it does imply sports related apparel. Is this your business?
http://www.google.com/search?q=Laker+Locker&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8You certainly want to avoid any Nike logo similarities and also any to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Maybe a combination of the clarity / colors of the second with the sports related imagery in the first, even reversed might do it to avoid the Nike logo association.
