My mother gave me this old photo of me and my parents in 1951 when I was 3 months old.
I was finally able to scan it and save to my desktop so I hope this qualifies as a digital image.
I am not sure how to clean it up even though it is an old picture it is not bad.
I am asking the brain trust here on UHH to look at this image and see if the cracks running down to my fathers face can be corrected.
I have the photo shop subscription but have never used the features to do something like this.
ANY help and feed back is DEEPLY appreciated.
We lost my father two years ago and my Mother is 92 and going strong so I would like to have this image so I can print it and share with her.
Thank you for viewing this post.
Bruce.

Here's my attempt.

It looks like your photo was scanned at a low resolution. If you can set your scanner to scan at 600 or even 1200 dpi, you'll get a much better baseline image to work with, and then a better size for printing the final image as you plan. Hope this helps.

The Canon BR-E1 works well with the R5 and is relatively inexpensive at $45. Works via Bluetooth so does not require line-of-sight. Operating range is 16 feet. The R7 is listed among compatible cameras.

Something is happening to my Mac Book Pro, mid 2014 on Catalina OS.
My cursor seems to act on its own, jerking around and towards the left of the screen and suddenly the screen image is blown up 10x, too big to navigate.
I did my Mac utilities and did 3x the CCleaner (CC keeps that away for about 10 minutes, but the nuissance comes back.
Any ideas whats going on ?

Since CCleaner temporarily fixes it, try running Malwarebytes and a good antivirus program.
Make sure screen zooming is turned off under Accessibility settings.
Are you using the trackpad or a mouse? Some have reported that pressing on opposite corners of the trackpad fixes erratic behavior.
Let us know if you solve it.

That’s a nice job you did there but I was wondering if anything could be done around that right eye. The eyebrow and dark ring look artificial somehow. I can even see it in the original.

I see what you mean. The eyebrow almost looks as though it had been hand-drawn. Here's a revision, perhaps now more cosmetic plastic surgery than restoration?

This goes a bit beyond your concerns but for the issue of child nudity or pornography that others have brought up, does the fact that a child may be your own or a grandchild have any bearing on the question?

I think the issue is posting such images on social media where anyone can view them. Regardless of the photographer's relationship to the child. Furthermore, even if posted in a private Facebook album, Facebook reserves the right to use the images as they please without your permission.

I have been doing monthly shoots of my almost 2 year old Great-Grandson since he was born, and his parents will only allow sharing with Family. It's so frustrating because they're really quite good. (And he is so adorable!) I use Dropbox to share.
Imagine my surprise when I got a private message from Facebook with some of my pictures, offering to post them. How did Facebook have access to my files? Of course I declined, but it was scary!

Facebook and Dropbox have had some type of linkage since 2012, that permits users to transfer photos from one site to the other, and even to allow other people, presumably with your permission, to access your images from one site to another. Perhaps there is something in either your Facebook settings and/or Dropbox settings to enable this. Or perhaps Facebook is simply aware of your Dropbox account and takes the liberty of perusing it.

The photo I’ve posted is of my father. As can be seen, material has flaked off in several places. Restoration may be difficult because of the location of the white spots around the right eye. I don’t have the talent or tools to even attempt to restore the photo myself, but what with the wealth of expertise among those regularly posting on the UHH site there may be some who might be willing to give it a try. If so, I would be truly grateful even if efforts are unsuccessful.

The photo was taken, I believe, in 1916. Dad, born in 1899, joined the Mississippi National Guard likely seeking an opportunity to get off the farm. That opportunity arose when his Guard unit was activated and sent to France. He made it through the war unscathed. I have a snapshot of him sitting at a table on a sidewalk in Paris drinking a glass of wine. He never made it back to the farm, but took up the carpentry trade and eventually retired from his job as head of the Carpenter Shop at Brookley Air Force Base at Mobile, Alabama. He died in 1982.

I found this for Facebook:
"When you share a photo on Facebook the EXIF location data is automatically removed from the photo before it's included in the post, which is good news for many adoptive parents."

However, Facebook may use your photo for whatever purpose they wish:

"When you share, post, or upload content that is covered by intellectual property rights (like photos or videos) on or in connection with our Service, you hereby grant to us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sub-licensable, worldwide license to host, use, distribute, modify, run, copy, publicly perform or display, translate, and create derivative works of your content (consistent with your privacy and application settings)."

Despite initial cloud cover the past two nights, I was lucky to capture this meteor trail shortly after 3 AM the morning of August 12. The bright apparent "star" just below the meteor trail is actually Jupiter in the eastern sky.

Are they turned on? A surprising number of water fountains in public spaces, parks, museums, etc. remain off due to Covid policy.
