Just an issue with cloud storage. When there are shortages of things and I can see that if everybody moves to cloud storage they will run out of hard drives or storage space. First in first out so you might get stuff back again.
In our city, and I suspect in the rest of the country, when you get your cremated remains of your loved ones buried in a memorial garden you get 20 years. Then you get advised that if the contents are not removed at 20 years they will be disposed of and the plot reused.
Every things temporary so if your dead don't get that long then how on earth, and why, do you expect somebody else to keep your photos for ever ? Leaving aside the issue that it is because you are paying somebody to do it for you (same goes for memorial plots by the way) they will make mistakes, they will want more money, and I bet there are longevity issues as well. Memorial plots don't need regular replacement but cloud storage does.

Its not a question of someone else keeping your photos forever out of the goodness of their heart. Most places that allow storage "in the cloud" have some sort of chargeback model. Once the money stops coming in, and after whatever the grace period is, they will absolutely delete your data.

My memory cards are either (1) in one of the camera bodies; or (2) in a pocket in my bag.

When I take photos, download the files, do some postprocessing, and back it all up, then I reformat my card and it goes back to one of those places.

What am I looking at?

There is a section of the area around the WTC site that has very colorful graffiti painted on the buildings. This shot is looking Southeast (if memory serves), and you're seeing the tops of the graffiti'd buildings, and portions of the buildings across the street. Its a unique view of a (sadly) iconic area.

Great shot, I really like this angle. I love the colorful artwork they installed around such a solemn place. When I was there on the anniversary in 2019, I only processed one of my photos in color, because its really the only way to enjoy that part of the area. Here are the others I took that day: https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-611364-1.html

Please post other photos from your time there, if you're open to it. I would really like to see what else you captured.

I like my Sigma 10-20 for my D7200. Used it exclusively in the Utah canyons a few years back.

This is a FANTASTIC lens for a crop sensor camera. It was basically all I used on my D3200 for landscape work.

Great photo, nicely composed and processed.

I love this train. We used to go to Essex every year for the trian ride with Santa. Hot cocoa, cookies, and a visit from the big guy was a blast for us. Alas, as my son got older, he wasn't as interested...

Generally, anything close up will benefit from using a ring light. I use one for macro photography.

Interesting project. Looks like Thomas Jefferson's modern-day persona could be interchanged with Robert Redford.

We have noticed that when watching their proprietary shows (Jack Ryan, for example), but only between episodes. I have not noticed it during movies, but its been a couple of months since we watched anything on Prime. Mostly Disney+ and Netflix around these parts.

I actually just bought the MSM mount kit. Heard about it from www.nationalparksatnight.com on their gift guide this year. Watched a couple videos and decided it was worth a shot. However, it has been cold enough to freeze the balls off a pool table, so I have yet to use it.

Is that due to flooding, or is there water surrounding those buildings at all times?

Very cool, thank you for sharing!

Without downloading to get a better look, it looks like there is banding in the sky from the stitching.

You are correct. I wish I could find an app that did a better job of stitching, but I really don't want to pay for more apps. I have many photography apps, most of which I don't even use, so I know I don't need more. :-)

Here is another pano from this morning. This was created from 7 photos on my iPhoneX, but I used PhotoStitcher2.0 on my iPhone to make this one. I think it looks better than the other app, but that may only be because the sky was darker. I'll need to try some more to know if it is an improvement. This was around 6:30am, and I like that I could get the moon in the sky.
