Amazon Prime Commercials?

I was watching a movie on Amazon Prime last night, and it kept getting interrupted for commercials lasting between 45 and 90 seconds. Is this something new? It wasn't a special movie.

We have noticed that when watching their proprietary shows (Jack Ryan, for example), but only between episodes. I have not noticed it during movies, but its been a couple of months since we watched anything on Prime. Mostly Disney+ and Netflix around these parts.

I don't remember what this was - probably a rinky dink horror movie. I find them funny.

Virtually everything nowadays requires funding. When was the last time you noticed there were no ads in newspapers, no commercials at half time or movies. I also recall televisions shows that had advertisements as well. How else would you have time to go to the bathroom or raid the refrigerator? It is a sign of the times.

Even on the internet, there are plenty of advertisements. There probably will be one a few inches From this post. Get used to it.

I don’t watch movies online but I do watch a lot of music videos. I have recently had the same thing. Right in the middle of a song it’s interrupted by a 30 or more second add. 20 or 30 minute tunes often several times. Very annoying.

It might not have been hosted on Amazon servers and most likely just listed on your Prime account. Amazon Prime can pull from many paid and free sources for content and depending on the user, there may be advertisements. I can access my HBO, Netflix, Hulu, etc....all through Prime if it's set up correctly.

I'm "funding" Amazon with my payment of $128.52 a year. Amazon offers most movies for free, but for some, there is a rental fee. Now it seems there is a third category. I'd like to know what to expect before I start watching. YouTube keeps interrupting with very short ads, but that's okay.

tl;dr: It might not be Amazon's content you are watching, it might just be ported into the platform.

If you don't like their business model of cross-platform operability in their Prime setup, then discontinue "funding" them. I provided a reason you may be seeing commercials in content you find in Prime. I for one enjoy the search feature and the ability to not have to jump around to 20 different software programs when I'm looking for something.

I figure if I click on Amazon Prime, then what I'm seeing is from Amazon. I've never seen anything different.
