Jeez, why are people making an argument out of this?

I OBSERVED AND TESTED what I was saying in the original post.

I HAVE card readers that DO NOT have the switch in the slot, and DO NOT prevent writing when the card is "locked".

Just trying to offer some advice that could save someone some aggravation.

You're welcome!

I doubt Bob was arguing with you and you seem too sensitive to respond to. Cassettes and video tapes have a plastic tab that can be broken off to prevent over righting the tape. Cards work on the same principle. The "switch" is in the device not the media.

Because I get great quality at half the cost. I would challenge you to tell me which brand lens was used to make any photo. The money I save is used for travel. This hummingbird image one of my favorites was shot on a less than 120 dollar mirror lens. Don't be fooled into thinking you need a thousand dollar lens to get great results.

These questions come up all the time and I find it hard to give an answer as I do not have a clue what they are looking for in a shoot. What I find photo worthy you may not.

These topics are started with no indication what they like to shoot. Some state they are looking for unique places but if I gave these locations out they would not be unique because they were shot before.

Want really unique images then do your own research and exploring on your own to find some unique places. Google maps will let you view everything from the air in which to find those locations. It will be much more rewarding to find them on your own...

I only format new cards or when an issue arises. I move the files off the card by cut and paste. Cards are not any different than your hard discs and backup storage devices so why treat them any different.

I don't mind the questions about how to shoot and such. The ones I dislike are the tell me what to shoot on my trip to (insert place here). Really? This tells me you are lazy and want everyone to tell you where to go and what to shoot. Is that all the effort you want to put out in Photography? Can't get very creative that way.

Then you have the what equipment should I bring on said trip. Really again you need to ask then just bring you phone. I ask for no one's help on such matters and make my own decisions unlike some here who can't.

Then you have the raw/jpeg debates and what camera should I get is a good one. Make your own decisions on equipment do your own research. The internet has a vast number of sites dedicated to that type of thing.

Okay, this question has probably been asked a thousand times, so now 1001. And I’m sure I could find the answer on here with minimal searching but I’m asking again anyway. I’m not kind to trolls so please just skip to the next one if you aren’t friendly!
I’ve decided to move up in the world and say good-bye to my trusty Pentax, which has become an extension of my arm. I shoot portraits, real estate, classic cars, landscapes, etc and I make money doing it so I can justify spending or saving more and then spending. I’ve decided to go down the Canon or Nikon road; I’ve researched the D850 and it looks awesome. Is there an equally or slightly less awesome camera for a smaller budget? Please let me know if you have a D850 or different camera and what you think from your personal experience. Thanks for reading my long-ass question and for the (decent) responses I may get.

So a month ago you asked the same thing and you expect to be told what this time? Not a troll here just an observation. You came across as you really wanted serious replies and never said you posted basically the same thing on July 22. You even said you knew you could search when you already had the answers from before.

Use non OEM batteries for 7 years and have NEVER had a failure, fire, camera fried or a meteor hit to this day.

So if you buy a Ford do you only use Ford batteries, tires, oil? If you get in a fender bender most insurance companies use non OEM parts. Why? One simple reason, to save money. If I can buy 4 or 5 for the price of one guess which one I am buying.

If one would stop being paranoid or brand loyal you can save money and get filters or some other item which will actually improve your photography.

What battery you have in your car?

All very beautiful and goes to show why and the reason I keep everything. Some day I won't be able to shoot as much but I will have a library of images waiting for me to work with.

Never cabled my camera. All this amounts to is unneeded handling of camera and strain on the battery.

Cards are faster transferring files direct and cards were designed for this reason.

There is no such thing as SOOC. To get the image it must be jpg only. The camera software does the processing for you.

There is a difference to me in processing an image or editing one. Editing you can mask areas and adjust light and make things you want the viewer to focus on. Through editing you can hopefully create an image you had vision of.

We are talking two different types of photographers here and either way is fine. What I see a lot of though is photographers telling others what they must do. We each develop our own styles and methods over time.

Myself, I want to create, and choose to do a lot of HDR. It is my thing, as I like the saturation I can get, like the old slide film Kodachrome. I also like the dynamic range and trying my best to control that takes some computer time I willingly will spend doing. This can't be done without editing.

If you want to see, as closely as possible 30 years later, the Japanese in action in the war in the Pacific, go to the Philippines. I travelled the Bataan Death March Trail. It was very sobering, and I have no regrets about either bomb.

Wow. I could respond to this in many ways but will remain civil. Sad you can't see this correctly. As a nation we had the power to take so much but as a people we had the humanity to not do so. The difference between the United States and Japan and Germany is pretty clear. We were never the aggressor and were provoked into the war by the bombing of Pearl Harbor. No regrets here either and you should be ashamed of your comment as your county could be under different rule today where you could never speak out as you are here. You earned a block from me as I never wish to read a post from you again.
