What do you use Quicken for? If it works satisfactorily on your current OS, why pay for upgrades?

I have Quicken 2006. Have only ever used it to keep my checking and savings account registers. Works fine in Windows 10, and there's no need to update/upgrade at all.
Just have to know the keyboard trick to make it stop asking me to register it after I install it on a computer.

The older versions still work, they just won't do any downloads from financial institutions. You have to manually enter every transaction.

I've used Quicken for ages, easily 15 years or more. They've frequently pissed me off over the years and caused me to research replacements, but there really is no comparable program, and nothing that will import your previous Quicken data. I would always put off upgrades until the bank downloads would be suspended, and was furious when they went to a subscription model, but ultimately surrendered and went with the subscription. There just isn't another program that will ably handle downloads from multiple bank, brokerage, and credit card accounts, and Quicken is unsurpassed in its ability to generate a report to answer any question you can throw at it. My conclusion, reluctantly, is that there is nothing better.

I'm using a PC. I have a list of 30 or 40 stocks which would be a PITA to update, even weekly. What quicken said was that these updates would stopped unless I enroll in their update program and pay $50 per year. So my central concern is the stock price updating feature, lesser so the program itself.

If your primary concern is tracking current prices on a basket of stocks, I believe this would be available free from most brokerages, such as Fidelity, Schwab, etc.

It's Optech for me, all the way! Best of luck.

Love OpTech straps. Use them on my camera and my bag.

Nikon Zs can be charged directly with an AC adapter. The Z7 kit comes with one.

Yes, but can they be charged from a portable power bank? He won't have access to an AC outlet.

Maybe.
It would depend on the capacity of the power bank and the capacity of the battery.

For example, I have a 10,000MaH power bank and can charge my cellphone four times with it.
(Therefore surmising that the phone battery capacity is about 1/4 of the bank capacity.)

If the battery is rated at 10,000MaH, one MAY get one charge from the bank, possibly not a complete charge though. You can't put more power into something from a "less power" device.

Connections? I've seen camera battery chargers that receive power from an AC/wall outlet or a car cigarette lighter, but never from a USB connection. Alternatively, I've had many power banks that will deliver a charge to a device through a USB connection, but never one that would deliver a charge through an AC type connection like my battery charger needs. Do these exist?

Apparently you can download Windows Live Photo Gallery for free and install it in Win 10. It will let you sort, run slide shows, and do quite a lot of other stuff. Search this "Does win 10 include windows live photo gallery?"- lots of info immediately available. I have 7 and the Windows Live Photo Gallery came with that. Very useful, IMO.

The product has been unavailable for download since January 10, 2017, as the Windows Essentials line of products have been discontinued. Previously downloaded copies continue to work, but downloading today is limited to non-Microsoft, non-official sources, and entails the risk of embedded malware.

I always put the card into my computer, and download 180 shots in about ten seconds.

Tim Gray is another good online content trainer. This morning his daily tips email included a $20 off offer for his "Photoshop for Photographers" course.

The offer said to use this link: https://timgrey.me/photoshop79

Another vote for Tim. I bought an unlimited subscription to his entire course library, which is constantly growing. Seems like it was around $100 for a year.

that is nonsense, I had a pc running XP for years after the support ended, I never had a problem.
Now I run windows 7 ultimate and I would NEVER change it for windows10, which is bug ridden and one big spy machine, I have a very good program for keeping out unwanted visitors, such as keyloggers etc,so forget all the scaremongering and keep away from win10.

Keeping safe isn't the only issue. New programs won't be built for Windows 7 in the future, and the future is coming fast. I understand that next year's TurboTax won't run on Windows 7, and this alone will force me to migrate to Windows 10.

When you say you took pictures "with your underwater camera," are you referring to the D850 in an underwater housing, or do you have another camera that is your "underwater camera?"

Although you are not interested in a new software all editors control noise but not to an optimum state. Photographers that have to deal with noise often just buy a good noise reducing software.

This isn't particularly helpful. The OP would like to know HOW to reduce noise with his current software (Elements 14). If your only insight is that there is better software available, then how about listing some suggested software you feel would do the job better than Elements 14. I have the same interest in learning how to reduce noise.

Check the manual for your audio system. Some systems are very picky about the file structure that you can use. I had one that insisted that I could only have two levels, i.e., Album/song. When I tried to use Artist/album/song it couldn't find the music.

I've had pretty good luck turning vinyl and cassettes into mp3 files, but I'd suggest first to see if your album is available from the library on CD. It's much easier to rip a CD and there's no editing to do afterward to separate the tracks and add song titles and other data to your mp3 files.

So would it be ok just checking it with the nylon bag that came with it? It has a cheap zipper on one end that zips close?

Definitely not. That bag will provide zero protection against the buffeting and abuse that luggage receives in transit. Put it inside a suitcase. The baggage checking fee will be the same whether it's a small tripod case or a big suitcase.
