I recorded some music with my phone, sent it to my computer, and then copied it to a flash drive as both an mp3 and an mp4. Both will play on my computer, but they do not play in my car. The car doesn't see anything on the flash drive. Any ideas what's going on?
How old is your car? If the flash drive is large by our car might not recognize it.

2015 Honda Fit. I always have two flash drives plugged in, and I can switch back and forth between them. The drive I'm using has been used in the car before.
Looking for solutions online is frustrating because the steps they give don't agree with what I have available. For example, several sites say to use Voice Recorder. When I open that, it wants me to plug in a microphone.
I'm going to try recording directly from the computer and see if that works - if I can find a way to record from onto the computer.
EDIT: I'm working this week, so I probably won't be on again today.

Could it be that the car does not like the music? LOL

That's a distinct possibility.

Just guessing without information about the export settings you used. Sometimes variable bit rates can cause problems. For troubleshooting, try to save the files in different qualities on your computer. Then copy them to your flash drive and see, well, listen which quality plays well.
This is a short nice explanation for MP3 export settings:

I have a 2017 Audi A8. It plays every CD in the changer. Does your car play CDs?
Check the music format. Some cars will not play Apple Lossless or some other formats. MP3 should work. And maybe FLAC.

Check the manual for your audio system. Some systems are very picky about the file structure that you can use. I had one that insisted that I could only have two levels, i.e., Album/song. When I tried to use Artist/album/song it couldn't find the music.
Some cars wont's play MP4 but will play MP3. Some cars will play only .WAV format. If you can, try converting the mp3 and mp4 to .WAV format and that should do it. However the song files will be much larger...
Why is it that the people who drive with their windows down and the volume up have the worst taste in music?😎

If you want to record more music than you could ever listen to, then get a program called "YouTube to MP3" by MediaHuman. I have supplied the link below:
https://www.mediahuman.com/youtube-to-mp3-converter/All you need to do is find the song/performance you want on YouTube, copy the link into "YouTube to MP3" and hit the download button. It automatically creates an MP3 file. Been using it for years and it works great. It is supported on both Windows and Mac systems. The price is right too "Free"!
