The Brooklyn you migrated too was more than likely a hell of a lot better than the present day Brooklyn. Both my parents were immigrants. I have been to both countries and where they grew up.So very glad they came to America.

How often do you go to Brooklyn, have you ever lived there? How familiar are you with its diverse neighborhoods?

This one wasn't an industrial accident. Beirut was a terrorist munitions stash accident!

Have you any evidence to support your statement; a reliable and verifiable source?

Wow!!!! You have such unique experiences, Frank! I'm more than a bit jealous. I have that Bill Evans & Tony Bennett album. It's beautiful.
Wonderful (again) hearing from you.

Stay well my friend,
Mark

Thanks Mark, terrific choice. Years ago, I ran into him at Umbria Jazz, where his daughter was performing. It told him that when my daughter was born and we brought her home, the first thing I played for her was “A Child is Born,” from the wonderful album he did with Bill Evans. Our daughters were with us, they looked at each other and smiled, and Tony was so visibly touched, I thought he was going to cry. He just whispered, “Thank you,” and walked away. Now the funny story: Years after that, my next door neighbor, who worked for Tony, was having a party and asked were using our oven to cook for the party. Getting ready for the party, I had just gotten out of the shower, and heard somebody moving around in the kitchen. As I was home alone, grabbed a big metal flashlight as a weapon and dripping wet, wrapped in a towel headed into the kitchen. And there’s Tony Bennet, bent over, head in the oven, basting a turkey.

Forgot to mention A Christmas Carol with Alastair Sim and lastly, Malena It might not be a great movie, but it does star Monica Bellucci.

No interest in many on the list, like cowboy boots and a pickup. No use for at least one, the grill, I live on the 12th floor. I’ve got a couple of passports with every page full of stamps, the first thing I ever bought with money I earned, and dirt from the warning track in center field from old Yankee Stadium. Still have the Lionel trains my parents gave me at Christmas when I was nine, and a bullfighter poster I took off the wall of some bar in Torremolinas. I’ve got suits, always have, including a couple that were custom made. None fit as well or looked as good as my Dress Blues.

Casablanca, the best movie ever made. Red River, Jeremiah Johnson, Bullitt, Downhill Racer, The Great Escape, Grand Prix, IL Postino, any of the Sophia Loren/Marcello Mastroianni movies and Godfather II, mostly because I miss hearing Sicilian spoken.

Without hesitation or doubt, the 1998 New York Yankees. They won 114 games in the regular season, swept the ALDS, won the ALCS in six, and took the World Series in four straight. Their overall record, including the playoffs and World Series was 125-50, the best ever.

You can add NYC to that list.
The spread of Covid was more to do with stupid people who failed to follow simple guide lines. Even now these morons have yet to understand the need for precautions. It's people not politicians who are spreading this virus.

I don’t know what part of The City you’re in, but the vast majority of people I see on the streets, in stores, etc, are masked and keeping their distance. I don’t think NY would have gotten a grip on this virus had not New Yorkers used their heads. City Hall may have left a lot to be desired, but people are still acting responsibly and complying.

Johnny Bench hit many dingers but his last was his best. In his final game and what would be his last at-bat he hit his final homer. Pure Hollywood! Pure Bench! Greatest catcher of all times.

The greatest catcher of all time was, and may always be, Lorenzo Pietro “Yogi” Berra. Everybody else is competing for second place and beyond.

Here in NC, Blue Cross says they expect the Corona virus to cost them $600 million. Source: Raleigh News and Observer.

I’m sure that’s the case. I don’t know what there revenue so far this year is, but in ‘19, it was $9.9 Billion, for the second year in a row. Their net income ratio for the two years averaged around 6%. I can only presume they’re not exactly suffering.
