Some months ago I made a bet of sorts with another member that if Covid 19 hadn't run it's course and things were getting back to normal in 8 weeks, I would send him $100. Obviously, that hasn't happened. In my defense I must admit that didn't factor in the inability of our idiots in D.C. to bandage a scraped knee, much less handle a pandemic. Anyway, I can't find the thread where I made that bet but I am sure the person I made it with remembers. So, refresh my memory, send me your address, and I will mail you a shiny new $100 bill! This is what I get for thinking that politicians could actually be useful!

If no one else steps up to the plate you can always send the money to me.(:
You just stated you said, "...if Covid 19 hadn't run it's course and things were getting back to normal in 8 weeks."
Those thoughts are incongruous. The correct wording of the compound sentence would have used "...weren't...".
Therefore, if that is what you said, I think the bet is void for vagueness and you are off the hook.
I'll just take $50.
Let me give you my take on this. I have to agree that our "public servants" could be public but not servants. This is a pandemic of which we do not know very much. I hope you have noticed that periodically something new comes up about the virus. By now I am sure there have been mutations and that could be the reason people are not dying like it was the rule around March of this year.
I am sure the government has been doing the best they could and understand that most of the information about the virus in Washington comes from the WHO and as far as I know its director in the beginning covered up the facts along what the Chinese government did and it was to deny the pandemic was starting in Wuhan. In the meantime people from all over the world were visiting China being exposed to the disease that we know ended up spreading to all countries in the world. Medical authorities have been working around the clock trying to find a vaccination to prevent infections.
Now lets talk about the public. I bet you have seen a majority of people not wearing a mask. Here in South Florida, where the number of infections are already a record I see lots of people not obeying the local authorities that have declared that not using a mask is against the law. The police has begun to give tickets to those not obeying the local authorities. I have seen entire families, including children, not wearing a mask. Believe me, with such a behaviour it is practically impossible to control the pandemic.
I do not blame everything on Washington.
See if this helps:

Any chance we could discuss a finders fee?
Edit: Looks like JD750 will be on the horn to Adorama soon!
Even more edit: Dang, you are an honest man!

I agree with you. I'm no fan of most of our career politicians. That said the public acting like petulent children forbays a bad outcome no matter what the talking heads do or say. I still believe most people are good kind caring folks but the selfish people are now standing out and getting the media coverage because they can no longer hide behind their smile. Get their names and remember them. It may save you in the future. Lol. Great day to all!!!!!
I'd say this is general chit chat, not photography.

In your defense, so many here believed that Covid was going to act like the flu, and be gone by May.
But this is not the flu.
Not necessarily the politicians,
the bug is NASTY! Not a seasonal thing, but year-round.
No one can control it.

I just put your check in the mail. You probably should go wait by your mailbox to make sure you don't miss it!

I don't blame everything on Washington either, but, I'm not going to debate politics. All I'm going to say is that better leadership, in Washington and many state capitals, would go a long way towards getting more of the general public to take Covid 19 and sensible precautions seriously.

Consistency in recommendations also.
